If you're black, and John Thompson hates you, then you know you're a lousy human being!

Barnes may not be liked in basketball circles in the Northeast but personally I don't really care what happened up there, although I do respect the fact he stood up to Dean Smith after Smith said something to one of his players.

I like Barnes because he is real and tells it like it is. At the very least, Rick doesn't say annoying shit after a loss....or a win. Mack spins everything in a positive way and it's sickening. Barnes just gives it to you straight up. My sentiments about Mack Brown are the same as others here. Barnes has hardware - Big 12 conference title and Final Four appearance. Mack has a souvenir from Sea World.

Barnes took over a program that is the basketball equivalent of Oregon or Mississippi in football -- a name school but not considered a top tier program year in and year out.

He is building a program that nationally is getting the kind of reputation that football has enjoyed since Darrell Royal. And yes, he is doing this with mid-level talent. You think any of these seniors are going to enjoy NBA careers of any kind?

Barnes is now reaching the level of recruiting success that Mack and football have had for a while. Let's see what he does when he has three McDonald's AA's on the same team. I'm sure you hecklers will take a different approach.

Box, quit hating on our coach man! That's the 3rd time I've read that story from you. :D GL today!

wolfpacker, I love reading your comments about our suck ass coach and then hearing how Wolf Pack fans want him as their next coach. Looks like your support is on the low end of the totem pole.

FM, congrats on a fine year in Football and Basketball. Texas is sorta similar to my Alum, NCSU, we both ended our Basketball season as a LOSER! It's fact, we lost our last game. BUT, in football, I believe the Longhorns fell to Washingyon St as a 8' point favorite, 20-28. State won there last game so we ended our season as a WINNER! Also we beat Texas Tech by 28 instead of 3! Yes you guys had more wins and ranked higher, but what you remember most is the last game was lost.

As for our Basketball coach, I was at State for the Les Robinson years, so I really don't give a shit who our coach is because any f*cking body is better than that Loser. Les Robinson equaled Less Wins.

Also, I do not see why fans want to get rid of Herb, he takes us to the dance and we lose. Just like 64 other coaches will do this year (Think that playin game is stupid, if you going to have 1, you might as well have 4, one for each #1 seed to play).

Now that I have you pissed, I will let you know that I pull for your Longhorns a lot, except when they play Oklahoma. I have a friend that is a coach for Oklahoma. I put money on the Longhorns a lot, both sports. I just thought it was funny about your signature. By the way, I am pretty sure that Texas lost ATS that game I was talking about.

No hard feels FM! Good luck to you and your Longhorns in the future.

Mexican food at El Arroyo is the way to go. Monk are you going to the FF? I am but going to stay in Austin.

As for Barnes, I am often displeased with what he does on the bench but it is pretty hard to be critical. He has built a program and is getting players now that never would ahve come here before. 3 Sweet 16' s last 3 years- who else can say that? Pitt Duke UConn. Not too shabby.

As for Mack, well who can argue. He is too soft and retains incompetent assistants because they are his friends. But only time will tell us for sure. Tom Osborne, Bobby Bowden used to get talked about the same way and last I checked it worked OK for them. Brown is out of time though - another OU loss may be the end.

Little inside info here, if the Sooners have the talent to win and Bob Stoops is coach. Look for a Oklahoma cover against Texas. Stoops does not like Brown at all!

I won't be at the games but I plan to shoot down to the Riverwalk for a day and enjoy the atmosphere. Unless you're staying at someone's house here in Austin or already have reserved a hotel room, you may not find anything available due to the Texas Relays. You may want to look somewhere in San Marcos if that's the case. Have fun man!

Hang in there Texans, last NC was 1970 in FB. Maybe
another one for the next generation? Who let these
schools join the Big 8? We were doing just fine without
them!

As long as Rick Barnes is the coach at Texas, they will never win a NCAAB national championship. That's a bet that is as close to a lock as you will ever see.

Tell Roy hi for me.

I have to agree with FM! :D

But Roy can beat Herb  Our success depends on whether we beat the Tarholes. We did in Football, we did not in Basketball. I just wished that all schools had the same requirements on their athletes. State's Basketball players have to maintain a higher GPA (going back to Coach V) than other schools in the ACC (Tarholes are one of them).

f monk-even though i am a duke fan barnes seems to be primed for a final four or better very soon.don't know if he was the coach when ewing signed with duke but i think more great hs players in that area will be staying home. barnes seems to have a great rapport with players. as far as unc goes, our local media loves them. can you imagine what it is like when they are really good. being bad in football and mediocre in baskets this year, they still are the media's favorites. nc state owns them in football and we own them in baskets.considering the alumni, the money in the athletic program, the power of the rams club and the plethora of local fans they have one of the most underachieving programs in the country.

Barnes may not be the greatest coach, but he will win one before Roy ever will. Roy has proven he cant win when it counts. Gonna LMFAO if KU pulls it out this year with ROy and 2 All-Americans gone.
