I get home tonight and start downloading records to my computer so I can clean them up and put on a cd. My son(16) walks in and sees the turntable..
Him..Whats that??
Me.. Whats what??
Him ..That thing on the counter
Me.. A record player
Him..Whats it do?
So this goes back and forth for a while and then he asks what the black things on the record are..So I tell him that its the spaces between songs..then it hits me.
I honestly dont know if he had ever seen a record play on a turn table. Talk about feeling old. That would be like my grandparents showing me a wind up phonograph.
So that got me to thinking..damn this world is moving quick.
Just a few things from when I was a kid and you can see how fast and far things have come.
1st video game....cant remember its name but it was before atari. Had 2 games..pong and football. The football players were just blobs on the screen.
Recording music off the radio onto cassette...DJs would always talk at the beginning and end of each song so you couldnt get it clean.
1st tv reception...rabbit ears.
1st computer..dont know the name but everything had to be saved on a cassette tape. It was as basic as basic could get.
Ok Im done rambling on. I have to go warm up my milk and get to bed early because Wal-Mart is having a special on Depends tommorow. Whats it going to be like when I hit 40???
