Flag Stone Patio

Flag Stone Patio

Upscale boston area $17/18 sq. ft.
Suburbish Boston area $15/sq. ft.

All depends on the area, really. That's the going rate around here. I do them on the side, and really many factors are taken into consideration...so I'd call around for estimates.

Is there an average going price per cubic yard of concrete?

Not really; it varies from town to town and region to region. If you are estimating a project, call your local ready-mix concrete company, and they can give you a budget number.

Even though ray is more of the expert on this, My parents before my mom passed, had the old concrete patio redone it was 30 years old and held up great and was very big and covered, they went to flagstone dad wanted to have stamped concrete, but as with all women mom got what she wanted this was about 8 or 9 years ago, well with the snow and rain back east it had to be fixed 3 or 4 times due to softness and would chip and crumble, so dad said **** it had it ripped out and put in stamped concrete and nice color and has not worn at all, the first deck or patio that was 30 years old my dad did, but this one a friend of ours no not ray is a gen cont. and did it and it is great , it goes out15 feet from house and 45 foot long and is 5 feet off the ground on one side and fron and other side is about 10 feet in block high because the lay of the land, looks great easy to keep clean and makes for a nice storage space underneath. has never leaked inside or lost color on patio deck. hey sowre never to use flagstone again, also had a waal in drive way made of it and he is always doing something to it, he is ready to block it and use like almost like a z-red z-brick over the block. would think very hard on flagstone. the other will last you stamped concrete for ever , as for wood as much rain as you get in both places you will be treating it every damn year or 2 or it will look like shit.

agree with fletch

agree with fletch

have a pretty large deck with a step down octagon off to one side....just finished pressure washing and staining it.....also have a big rustic looking shed.....stained `em all redwood...

looks great, but,it`s something that you`ll have to do periodically... at least here in the east...

i do the flooring and the flat, plain sides of the shed with a 2 foot staining pad head that i found...takes about 3 regular staining pads...,still,you`ll have to brush it out a bit...

you`ll have to have some cooperation from the weather...it`s not fun...do it before it gets to hot..

concrete sounds nice to me....low maintenance...

since we are on the subject :

i'm thinking of re-doing my back patio next year.

right now i have perma-deck around the pool area, & am getting tired of looking at the cracking from what 'experts" have told me are settlement cracks.

am looking to change next year, so i wanted to know:

besides kool deck & perma deck, is there anything else that i can install around the pool area ?

yes there is get ready for some missed spelled words but your use to that and any one from fl with a pool or kosar can correct spelling have it on pool in fl, great with the heat and does not crack, it is in ground right ? has to be if useing kool deck it is called chatahochie it is crused shells and they put it on and seal it with almost like a polyurathane and only has to be resealed about every 4-5 years does not crack cool to feet and easy as hell to keep clean, you can pressure wash it and looks brand new and does not chip with pressure washer. it looks like a golden brown shiny deck that shines when sun hits it.

Frankly, I'd look into anything that doesn't use wood....

Too many composite materials out there, or concrete for that matter, to use something like wood that demands attention to maintenence.......

why stick all that money into a wood deck that lasts what, 15 years? This is 2004...check into composites.
