USC -15.5 -- I think we all have disected this game, and looked at the angles. I felt that when the line was around 17.5/18 it was pretty sharp, but the more it drops the more I'm willing to take a shot on the Trojans. The books might be goating me into this one, but so be it.

To me this game is going to come down to VaTech's ability to run the ball against USC. If they try to get into a shoot out they are dead, so ball control and grinding out long drives is vital for them -- but I love the USC D. Some of the players may be different, but I think the results will be the same. I just think the USC run stoppers are too daunting of a task for Va Tech, especially since they just lost a horse in Kevin Jones.

One more thing -- Va Tech's biggest weapon has been huge special teams play, whether it's taking kicks back or creating turnovers. This worked in a lot of games last year, but I just think Pete Carroll is way too savy to play into their strength like that. His special teams will be ready to take care of business and NOT LOSE this game on special teams, because we all know they can win it in the other aspects of the game. I loved how Carroll had them ready last year for Auburn out of the gate and I expect the same type of preparation here.

I know that there has been a lot of anti USC sentiment and anamosity towards them because of a certain poster on this board over the past few months, but lets be real guys -- this team is one of the best in the nation. I think they get it done tonight.

Best of luck to all tonight and all year -- feels so good to post a football write up.

Good luck Blackman

To me this game is going to come down to VaTech's ability to run the ball against USC.

For your USC -15.5 bets sake and me being a Trojan fan, I am HOPING V-Tech tries and run the ball against USC. Why? It is a wasted down. You are not gonna run the ball against USC. V-Tech needs to roll out Randall and let him make plays with his athletic ability. Remember USC defense is very fast so no outside running and no inside running with Cody and Patterson as DT's. IF there is a weakness on the USC D it might be the DB's. V-Tech needs to attack the USC DB's and establish the passing game to set up the running game.

I know that there has been a lot of anti USC sentiment and anamosity towards them because of a certain poster on this board over the past few months, but lets be real guys -- this team is one of the best in the nation. I think they get it done tonight.

That couldn't possibly be me? :142lmao:

I have no money on this game but you know damn straight I will be rooting for your bet to cover. :) Plus your a good guy and I have enjoyed posting with you.

Not the start I wanted obviously -- but what can you do.

Few thoughts -- USC looked a little bit sloppy, especially on offense. Didn't expect that, I'm sure Chow is going to clean them up.

I do think that Va Tech showed the blueprint to playing USC -- punch them in the mouth over and over and over. Just seemed like Va Tech was so much more physical the whole night, but ultimately could not match the talents of Reggie Bush.

Congrats to the Hokie backers --- tonights another example of heavy chalk being deadly early in the year.

You would have won your bet if McFoy TD catch was not out of bounds early in the game. Beautiful play that just missed on being executed for a TD. USC also missed that easy FG and what if USC picked up that fumble for a TD. USC easily could have coverred the spread but both teams had breaks that went against them. USC also running the ball on that 3rd and inches was plain out stupid. Why not QB sneak it.

V=Tech easily could have won the game tonight and USC easily could have won by more pts. Great game!

All in all, you are right that big chalk early in the year is tough to win and I was gonna pass but ended up losing 1unit on USC as well.
