YTD 0-0
USC -15.5 -- I think we all have disected this game, and looked at the angles. I felt that when the line was around 17.5/18 it was pretty sharp, but the more it drops the more I'm willing to take a shot on the Trojans. The books might be goating me into this one, but so be it.
To me this game is going to come down to VaTech's ability to run the ball against USC. If they try to get into a shoot out they are dead, so ball control and grinding out long drives is vital for them -- but I love the USC D. Some of the players may be different, but I think the results will be the same. I just think the USC run stoppers are too daunting of a task for Va Tech, especially since they just lost a horse in Kevin Jones.
One more thing -- Va Tech's biggest weapon has been huge special teams play, whether it's taking kicks back or creating turnovers. This worked in a lot of games last year, but I just think Pete Carroll is way too savy to play into their strength like that. His special teams will be ready to take care of business and NOT LOSE this game on special teams, because we all know they can win it in the other aspects of the game. I loved how Carroll had them ready last year for Auburn out of the gate and I expect the same type of preparation here.
I know that there has been a lot of anti USC sentiment and anamosity towards them because of a certain poster on this board over the past few months, but lets be real guys -- this team is one of the best in the nation. I think they get it done tonight.
Best of luck to all tonight and all year -- feels so good to post a football write up.
