I recently planned a trip to Las Vegas. It is a surprise for my g/f. (Since we just got back a month ago, she would never be expecting another one so soon.)
She had made a few comments about us not having another vacation until April, and was generally bumed out about winter heading this way, etc, etc.
Well, I figured WTF, and got tickets about two weeks ago. I made sure with her boss that she could be off the neccessary days, and made the arrangements.
Keeping it a secret has been pretty easy, but now some shit has come up which might require me letting the cat outta the bag.
She had a few setbacks with her car over the last 10 days. $150 here, $170 there, tires for $250.....nothing major, but she is pretty guarded about her money, and doesn't like these "surprise expenses". She has spent money from her savings, and she HATES to do that!
She doesn't have a big bankroll when it comes to gambling, and on our last trip, she only lost about $200, so that was one reason I figured it would be okay to plan another trip this soon. But, this whack from the car has her feeling financially drained, as far as expendable money goes. (I know she has plenty in the bank to have a good time out there, but my perception and hers differ on that!)
There was a show about Vegas on the tube last night, so I sized up the situation:
"Look! A show on your favorite vacation detination!"
To which she snorted, "That's the last fuking place on my mind!"
:scared :scared :scared
Now what??????
Do I tell her about the trip, or keep it a surprise until we go? I would love to keep it a secret, but she might really feel like shit if I spring it on her now. If I give her some advance notice, she might be pissed, but would "get over it" in time to enjoy the trip.
What should I do, kids?
