Big 10 Game of the Year - Wrong Team Favored

The Gophers are a sorry team right now. They've been deflated since the Michigan loss and now I believe Glen Mason can no longer motivate this bunch. I don't envision Mason back next year. Earlier in the season everyone thought Minny had a good chance to win the conference, but now their running game has faltered and Cupito is not playing well at QB. Wisconsin has surprised many because they have a good football coach -- Minnesota does not. This could very well be the swan song for coach Mason. Iowa always gives Minnesota a tough game. Even though this one will be played in Minneapolis, it shouldn't matter. The Hawkeyes have slowly improved over the season and will give the Gophers fits. Iowa +3 is my Big 10 GOY. They should win the game straight up -- Minnesota is reeling and cannot wait for this disappointing season to end.

I agree with you and I was strongly looking into betting on Iowa as well. However, after handicapping this game there are 3 things I do not like.

@Minny in the dome where Minny plays well

Iowa offense does not play well on the road

Iowa is having some problems on the OL and 2 starters might not play or play injured. That does not bode well on the road. OL and DL IMO are the 2 most important positions and if you have some problems on the OL on the road, could spell trouble. That was enough for me to jump off of Iowa.

Good luck on your play!

College football is all about emotion and Minnesota has none right now. True, they play better at home, but that won't matter Saturday. They could get a thumpin' -- last week vs. Wisky the score was misleading -- they were pushed all over the field and acted like they didn't care a bit. It would be a major surprise if Mason gets this group ready to win against Iowa.

that will be one empty and quiet dome Saturday, but I think the line is pretty sharp. Will be focusing my $$$$ elsewhere this week.

I live in Minny and have been a Gopher season ticket holder for years. I've backed this team a lot, but me, like a lot of other fans, have seen enough of Glen Mason and need to see new leadership next season. Why was Alvarez able to recruit Stocco right from Mason's back yard? I cannot see this dismantled team beating Iowa Saturday, but that's why they play the game I guess.

Wisconsin and Iowa are Minny's two biggest rivals. We saw the lack of motivation last week against Wisconsin. Cannot picture a different scenario this week...

Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
Walleye.....K,
I would stay away from this game...........
I think emotion is extremely difficult to cap :)
I watched Minny play at Camp Randall last weekend, and they did not give up! However, they just did not have the horses to make it a competitive game. So thats probably why it looked the way you see it.
Just trying to help you out here, as a fellow MJ'er and neighbor :)
Not saying Minny would cover either, because I see this as a field goal game either way..........Maybe take Iowa in a Teaser, but not GOY......
GL whatever you decide......

minnesota is the play

minnesota is the play

Live in Wisc and from iowa and made a small fortune betting these 3 teams your talking of. The hate relationship minn has for iowa is all they need here. HOME, IOWA ON THE ROAD, INJURIES enough said. There is allot of value taking MINNESOTA in this spot. If you don't play on MINNY i will tell you to stay off.

My main sport is college b-ball, and I know that a gold mine system over the last few years has been to play the home unranked fave over a ranked road dog (which is the case here as well - the play would be Minny). Not sure if this system translates into college f-ball; has anybody tracked this or have any insight into it?

All good contrarian views, but I will play Iowa hard Staurday. This isn't the same Minnesota team we saw during the first half. Their QB play has been erratic and the defense has become matadorian-like. Granted, this is a weaker Iowa team than years past, but nobody thought Mich State nor Indiana would whip the Gophers but they did. I don't see the boys getting up for this game in a half-empty Metrodome for a coach who already has his mind on his next job opportunity -- which is something Mason is notorius for both here and at his last job at Kansas.
