didnt get a chance to do a lot of capping earlier in the week. was all geared up for bg/toledo game. finally went through everything and decided on these:
arizona wildcats (+14)
small shot on arizona moneyline (+450)
fresno state bulldogs (-26)
hawaii warriors (+6.5)
hawaii warriors moneyline (+210)
cats have taken baby steps this year, and i think this is the kind of game that stoops knows can set the tone for next season. if nothing else, the arizona defense has played its ass off this year, even in games where theyve been overmatched. ive seen nothing from asu to justify 2 TDs of road rivalry chalk.
fresno, on the other hand, is worth whatever chalk vegas requires them to lay right now. ill step out and say that i think theyre playing as well as anyone in the entire country the last month or so. dawgs ground game is absolutely shredding defenses right now. theyve racked up almost 1200 yds the last 4 weeks on the ground, and have done it by chunking out 6.3 yards a carry. no doubt in my mind that fresno beats boise right now in a neutral field rematch. thinks its very unrealistic to expect sjsu to match the emotion and effort they displayed in the boise game. that was the spartans one shot to shock someone. hard enough for a mediocre dog to rise up vs conference elite 2 out of 3 weeks. sjsu isnt even mediocre. theyre just grossly overmatched. while it would be storybook for sjsu to send out fritz hill with a herculean effort against their rival, i just dont see it happening.
as for hawaii, theyre simply the most night-and-day home/away team ive ever seen. theyve played well in these late-season matchups vs power conference teams. northwestern is decent, but theyre hardly a team in a hurry to lay chalk with 2000 miles from home. i think michigan state is the kind of team that can rip apart hawaii next week with their power attack when they come to the island. but hawaii should win this game against the traveling cats.
