Sioux Lookout / Lake Minnitaki

Wow, that is a way up there. Zoom out about 3 levels and you get a general idea where it is (NW Ontario, about half way between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, but further north). The lake is 20km (12 mi?) south of Sioux Lookout by the looks of it. Coming from the east coast I'd probably recommend crossing at Niagara Falls, then into Toronto, up Hwy 400, etc. But you might save a few bucks on gas by staying in the States and driving straight up through Michigan, crossing at S.S. Marie.

I worked up in that part of Ontario for one summer. Never had so many mosquitos in my mouth and up my nose ever. :) I do remember the guys who were fishermen in our group going apeshit though over just how many fish there were.

As for problems crossing the border...they can be pricks but I've never had any real problems, and I cross at least six times a year. The lineups are worse than the actual interrogation. I either get a half dozen questions, or two questions and a quick wave-through. Just don't lie, and answer EXACTLY what they ask you and answer it concisely (don't offer additional info, just be straight with 'em), and you shouldn't have a problem.

There will be no squealin like a pig on this trip :142lmao:

Jack - the camp is a drive to (and for the most part very nice roads. Highway (?) 502 has some rough spots but relatively a good ride. I'm e-mailing you the web site when I finish this and you can post the link (must admit --- I don't know how, still quite the beginner on the pc)

Mosquitoes - I'm usually back at the cabin icing down my sore arms  from reeling in all those fish. They're not a problem till dusk, and then they're BAD. If you don't mind using a repellent with deet (Repel, Deep Woods Off, and Cutters are all good) they're not a biting problem, just a nuisance.

If this gets to be a go I will give more tips and info as the time approaches (border regulations)

There is a boat launch at the resort. Gas, oil, bait, and Labatts Blue are all available. I bring flats of crawlers, as they are always the best live bait choice for me. Minnows, crawlers, and leeches are available there. (if you bring crawlers across the border they must be in a commercial bedding - I use buss bedding) You cannot bring minnows or leeches across the border.

I e-mailed Jack the web site. I would just as soon not post it until I have a confirmation on the cabin and the interest from members of MadJacks. I am trying to get in contact with the owner to get these reservation dates in my name, but he has not returned my messages as of yet. Should hopefully know more this week . If by chance he's at the winter outdoor shows and has other clients booked, there still may be a chance some guys can room with me. My cabin is very roomy and has four single beds, but futons and rollaway beds could comfortably sleep six. Have my fingers crossed that the VIP is still open and we can get together:)

OK GUYS!!!

Good news & Bad news. Have the VIP cabin reservered the week of July 9-16. The opening on the 16-23 has been filled :cuss: BUT, if there still is a big enough response I can accommodate 3-5 in my cabin. Let me know. I just talked to the owner and he said the VIP cabin this year has the TV and DVD (instead of the vcr)

If interested we will need to get a deposit to the resort. They will need $75 per person. Right now I have it reserved with my credit card but as you make your deposit it can credit back my account.

This is a great opportunity to meet some of our MadJack friends. Hope to see lots of you respond. If enough MJ'ers aren't interested those of you that have buddies that would like to go are welcome. In all fairness though I did want to make it a MadJack thing first. You're also more than welcome to share my cabin if the VIP is filled. You can visit the site on the web at www.pickerelarm.com

Let's Go Fishing!!!!!!!

Get your reservations in now. If some of you are hesitant about roomates for a week, relax. As of yet, marine has not responded :scared And if he does we'll have him sleep out on the porch with his hands above the covers :142lmao:

Franky - send a $75 deposit/person to Lee's winter address (get it off the link, it's in Janesville, WI) Tell him it's for the VIP cabin with Paul, July 9-16. Glad to see you are coming :)

Dogfish, Jack, watrdogg, UT-Longhorn, c20, and everyone else -- let's go!!!! I know it's hard to get along with even family and friends for a week, much less all these degenerates :142lmao: but somehow I think the Madjack family and friends will survive.

I'd really like this to become an annual event so be one of the original team members. Shore lunch anyone?
