My little boy got a gameboy for CHristmas. It's all he asked for, and he loved it. He had to go to the bathroom, and he set the paused gameboy on the back of the toilet. When he stood up, he accidentally knocked it into the toilet. Now, it doesn't work.

Is it totally shot now, or can it be repaired? Don't guess it qualifies for the limited warranty now?

When u plug it in to charge it, the light will come on like it is charging, but then it won't work after it is turned back on.

Any ideas short of buying him another one (that's what I'll probably do if I can find one to buy...)?

Thanks.

Where did you get it? The return policies at stores now usually don't ask questions.

I would get the shit stains off of it first, though.

The exact same thing happened to my kids gameboy....let it dry out before doing any recharging...it'll take a couple of days...then recharge and it should be ok.

HHMMM, there seems to be an epidemic of these things getting tossed in the shidder. An investigation may be in order.

geeze, glad my son's torment has been so much fun! Just imagine that little boy with a quivering, pouty lower lip saying, "Don't be mad, mommy, I dropped my gameboy in the toilet. Sniff, sniff"

Some of the responses are funny, though!

It's broken and the place we got it won't take it back. I'm going to try Nintendo directly now.

Regardless of where you purchased it, I bet Wal-Mart will take it back and give you a new one. They are extremely liberal on this. Just say your son received it for Christmas, and it didn't work.

Of course, this hinges on you being a lying sack of shit (no pun intended here) like myself.

Unbelievable, another example of Americans refusing to take accountablity. Why in the world would/should any store replace a unit that was dropped in the toilet?????? First of all, tell the kid to set the thing down once in awhile, especially while he is taking a dump. If you owned a store and somebody brought something back because it was dropped in the shi**er, how quickly would you exchange it for a new one? C'mon guys, live and learn......My lip would have been quivering too if I had done something like that, because if my dad had found out he would have kicked my arse. How about a little lesson in responsibility once in awhile instead of expecting everybody else to bail us out. Yeah, I suppose your right, what am I on drugs????????Happy New Year!

umm, you're out of place calling me out on this one. The "kid" is my son, and he is taught accountability, right and wrong, chivalry, and many other good things, and he is 5 years old. It was an honest mistake on his part setting it on the back of the toilet and accidentally knocking it in. I'm not going to crush/destroy a 5 year old's spirit by telling him, "tough shit, boy, now u don't have one to play with!"

I'm not going to lie to anyone to get it fixed, and I haven't even attempted or considered that. The original post was really technical in nature on whether the thing would work or not as I know there are many on here more knowledgable than me on this subject.

My son is contributing a portion of his allowance/earnings every week to to the gameboy fund to help him understand the importance of money. Sorry your dad kicked your "arse". I choose not to raise my children that way.

It was not meant as a personal attack. It was mentioned that it is the AMERICAN way. .....Plus, you don't have to be sorry for me, I am not upset about it one bit. I know that I actually have manners, respect for the law and my elders. Unfortunately since the end of corpral punishment in schools our society is full of youths that talk back, don't respect authority and expect everything to be handed to them........And I do beieive this was your quote....It's broken and the place we got it won't take it back. I'm going to try Nintendo directly now.
Today 01:34 AM ..........This was directed as much to the others who posted suggesting just lying about it. :)

YO KEYSER-- GO EASY ON FOCKER. I CAN PERSONALLY VOUCH FOR HIS CHARACTER AND KNOW HE'S NOT A SCAMMER. HE WOULDN'T STEAL CANDY FROM A BABY OR JEWELERY FROM ANYBODY UNCONSCIOUS IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT. YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR PEOPLE LIKE CHANNY AND SCOTT KOD [KING OF DICKS].
