short card, but all three mac games are kind of intriguing. lean to all the dogs, but ultimately going to only play this one.

marshall thundering herd (+13.5)

miami has not been able to shake this team recently. marshall has been a real pain in their ass. marshall put themselves in a position to win both meetings last year, but let miami off the hook twice. redhawks escaped with a 51-48 overtime win in huntington and then needed a big 2nd half rally to come from behind to be a well below .500 marshall group 74-70. marshall has been a huge disappointment this year. there is talent on that team and theres no way in hell theyre the worst team in the conference. central michigan and northern illinois are the two teams that i consider truly inferior to the rest of the league. on paper, marshall should compete with every team on their schedule. hasnt worked out this year, but catching 13.5 with a team that is capable of hanging around is too good to pass up. miami coming off a rivalry game on the road against OU, and theyve got the bracket buster with wichita up next followed by a season-ending 4-game road trip. could definitely make a case for this being a sandwich spot for the redhawks and marshall has proven they can be dangerous to miami if they get off to a halfway decent start.

I think that this call is worthy of a good sized play. Miami doesn't bring it every night and may lack sufficient motivation to cover this really big number. Marshall has improved a bit over the season, though they are the ultimate defensive train wreck. May take a crack at the over as well here. This years 'Hawks are willing to push the ball a lot more than previous editions against weaker defensive teams. However, as we have discussed in the past playing Miami over the total is never without risk.

Gman, any opinion on the over with Florida St. and UMass? I know you have had pretty good luck playing these out of conference games on the overs due to let up in defense. Thanks in advance.

G, Kent looks tempting.... I have the bison at 9... curious why the books have them at 4.... after a ESPN victory could be in for a let down???????

Hey gman,
Just wondering what your thoughts were on the UConn-Prov game tonight. Know that a lot this year youve liked the Friars as home dogs or small faves. Do you just not like the spot tonight or have you given up on the Friars ever putting it all together this year?

youre right, fsu/umass would definitely qualify as a potential over play. fsu and umass wouldnt be two teams that i immediately think of as 'over' teams, but thats why this kind of non-conf over spot has been effective -- even the better defensive teams dont really bring their intensity on that end to these late season non-conference game. this game is almost meaningless to both teams so, yes, i am going to take a token shot on the over 126 on principle alone. i think there's been, and will be, better spots to really hammer at over in this situation (both teams are mediocre at best) but have to at least throw a few bucks on the o126 because of how good this type of spot has been to me.

thunderlips:

tough game. buffalo has still proven to be less than worthy of laying points at home, especially to a good program like kent. but the flashes havent been playing particularly well on the road (save for the akron game last week). hawkeye is correct about the referree situation at kent, but it wasnt former players, but just kent state alumni. regardless, still pretty shady. kent went to the line 37 times compared to buffalo's 20. and there were 15 fouls called on kent compared to 29 against buffalo. wouldnt surprise me at all to see buffalo get some real home cookin' tonight. but i still think its kent state or nothin' in that game. bulls still not playing well at home despite rallying in the 2h to beat ball state on saturday. bsu did more to lose the lead than buffalo did to take it back.

johnny:

its a combination of both (not really liking the spot, but also giving up on providence too) thats keeping me off of this game. ive just been so disappointed with providence because they are not a bad team at all and i still think they could be dangerous team in the big east tourney if they get there, and thats pretty much what im waiting for. the line clearly says providence or nothing, and im always willing to back an ugly dog. but not tonight. i really hope they win because theyre certainly capable of it. theyre just not worth my money right now.

What do you guys think of the Buffalo/Kent Under 142.5? I was looking at it and when I went to check it, it had dropped 3 points to 142.5!

Also, the CMU/WMU dropped 3 points also!
