Ray you echo thoughts of many more folks at this time. A good turn around will cheer folks up. Right now they see there government in business they don't belong in. And doing nothing about what they should. This Delay guy should resign.

1. Oil prices are determinied on a world market. Prices are high now because of huge demand in China and India. Gas is $6 in Germany, $5 in France. How are high prices America's fault?

2. What would you have America do? Using the strategic oil reserve would be a very bad idea.
It would only reduce prices for a couple months and then we'd have no protection in case of terror attack. If fact, it would pratically invite such an attack..

our refineries are maxed out at the moment

has little/nothing to do with the supply

has all to do with demand and the upcoming tourism season

refinery in Texas City which exploded added about 10 cents onto the gallon as it was putting out millions of gallons/week

I, personally, don't mind $2 per gallon, but I just filled up and it was $2.20 for regular unleaded. Our Maxima was almost $37.00 to fill up!

I'm just glad I don't drive very much.

Look at the bright side, if gas reaches $4 a gallon we will be able to buy a Excursian real cheap!

WRONG, This in the us does not have anything to do w/supply and demand in other countries, it is in the refining of the oil, their has not been a new refiner built in the us in over 25 years, u ask why, because it is very expensive and unprofitable for the Oil companies. The biggest problem they have is all the different states has different blends they require to meet the local air pollution laws in that state. it is very expensive.

YOU Want this fixed!!!!!!!!!!

THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO BUILD MORE REFINERIES AND RUN THEM THEIR SELFS, indepentant of the oil companies, they know their is no money iin refinieries that is why they won't expand them, also less refinieries keeps the price of gas high becasue of demand.

jmo and i work in the oil company industry.

My boss told me he was about ready to hang a "for sale" sign on his suburban.....

Claims if he went to fill it up today, at the gas price of around $2.20......it would cost him $95 to top it off....

Suburban is on the bench and the rice burner is in the game indefinitely......

If refinery shortages are the problem, then why haven't prices been higher all along? Why only recently? ...and that would be independent of international barrel prices, right?

So the growing demand in China and India has NO IMPACT? I'm not saying that's impossible or arguing, but it seems hard to believe. Maybe it's not as great of an impact as some proclaim, but it has to have some kind of impact, right?

father in law is exec in the oil industry....says the same thing as countinguy

demand in the summer is high...prices are going up as demand increases

supply can also affect oil and at times does...but the current situation has to do with refineries

I ask again though - why is a refinery shortage only causing problems of late? Why hasn't it been an issue affecting us all along?
