Take the last train to Ca$hville,
And I'll meet you at the station.
You can be be there by four thirty,
'Cause I made your reservation.
Don't be slow, oh, no, no, no!
Oh, no, no, no!

Well let's hope that this season's run is better than last years!!

2004 was the worst system performance in its 8 years of tracked history with a sub 50% W/L rate. A trough in the overall performance graph I hope. Looking towards a spike this season though!

After last season I went back and looked at the numbers to try and explain the downturn. There was no obvious reason except perhaps the 'law of averages' trying to catch up.

I did, however, see another way of looking at the numbers. The way I give a "points value" to each team after its previous 2 weeks form and then compare the value to its upcoming opposition.

I then went back and looked over the last 8 season's numbers and found another common denominator which pointed me at a different 70+% every season. Not as many plays as the usual 30 odd selections for the 'Express' system but 12 - 20 none the less.

It is these plays that I am adding to the standard system to create a "hybrid theory". They are always home faves so the return is shorter but this system is based on 'tri-bet' returns which is for a team to win by more than 15.5 points. This fattens up the return dividend to make it worthwhile.

To cut a long story short....the Express has been "beefed up"!!!

Now on to this season's first selection....

Sydney +22.5 v Brisbane

Playing with a considerably smaller bank than last year but the play is still for 20% of the kitty.

So "all aboard thats coming aboard" and lets get this ol' girl up and running!!

I like it paw! The first play looks the goods mate and christo was on the ball by selecting it as a play early. Looks like we will all be aboard for the first venture of the newly designed express.

A freaky match to watch with Sydney down at 3/4 time by 32 points and looking in big trouble. They then went on to stage their biggest ever last break comeback to win by a goal after the final siren!! They never lead the match until after it was over!!

Season to date: 1 - 0 @ 100% ----- Bank = 116%

Happy to get the system off to a winning start for '05 though we have one more selection for this week.

This selection is eligible under the hybrid method and its for the Western Bulldogs to win by over 15.5 points.
I'm going to play it conservatively (as I have already played them on the ML earlier in the week) and go with the - line instead. 20% of the bankroll on...
Western Bulldogs -7.5 v Richmond

Now these two AFL "cellar dwellars" have a combined three wins out of their last twenty regular season matches so it is scary to be backing either. Richmond won last week so I reckon their next win must be some months away now!! The Bulldogs on the other hand are on the rise and are getting off plenty of shots on goal under Eade's new coaching guidance. Provided they kick straight, they cover this easily.

Cheering for Christo's guys in this game.

Bulldogs blow a handy 19 point lead during the 3rd quarter and eventually blow the game at the end. Poor kicking by two poor sides!!

A waste of a weekend for the system.

Season to date: 1 - 1 @ 50% --- Bank = 92.8%

One of the strangest AFL weekends I can remember with some bizarre games & results.
