Does anyone have any advice for the fam and I as we head down to Disney World for the first time? We are probably gonna go into the park two days and I have heard things about a FastPass or something you can get in the morning and then it allows you to go into a separate line for rides?

As you can see I am clueless...any tips on tickets or rides or things to do or goddam anything, I would appreciate it!!

:)

i just did a 9 dayer down there. stayed at the swan right on walt disneys property near the boardwalk. fastpass was a must at magic kingdom and universal ( A MUST IN THOSE 2 PARKS ) they got machines in the parks also where you can put your park hopper pass in and make it a fastpass to where the ticket gives you a time to come back to hit that ride.

DO UNIVERSAL AND HIT THE HULK COASTER!! :scared animal kingdom is cool too if your bringing kids!!!

HAVE FUN!!!! :mj14:

Thanks Trossi! That sounds good!

One more question...how do I go about getting that FastPass? Where and when do you get those versus the regular ticket?

Thanks!

My buddy went and bought this pkg. that involves "wishes" for food. You get to use say 1 wish on lunch, 2 on dinner, all inclusive, you only pay for drinks I think. There are pricier restaurants that take 3 per meal, but I would def. look into that all inclusive deal.

Make good use of the bus system, if you have kids at an age that you could control on it. Early to bed, early to rise.

Good luck :)

you can get the fast pass park hopper inclusive which gives you all the disney parks including there water parks. ( 7 or 10 day tics ) or regular park hopper without the water parks. i see your only gonna be there a couple of days so you might want to call your hotel or google the pass offers on the net. you might save money by not getting the park hopper at all and just getting fast pass daily tics for the parks you want to hit.

Spalding, not sure if you will have time, but try and do "Breakfast with the Characters." It is a sit down, family style breakfast and all of the Disney characters go from table to table and talk to "ALL" of the kids there. It is the first thing we did when we went there and my mom said after the breakfast, "I don't care how much this trip costs, that breakfast just made it all worthwhile." Its really cool and the kids in there just eat it up when the characters sign their autograph book.

Have fun.

Don't do everything that you "have" to do because all the hustling will make you miserable. The kids would probably be happier back at the pool.

Just make sure you plan some days that don't involve fighting the parks.

Just got back 3 weeks ago from Disney and Universal. We spent 5 days with the Senior class from my HS.
The key to your visit is" how old are your children?"
I can give you some pretty good suggestions but the age of your kids are the key factor.
Put there ages here.
My favorite are "The Hall of the Presidents" and It's a Small world". It's the place that has AC and I can nap there. When the "hall" presentation is over the doors open and they let the next crowd in.I sit way in the back so I don't have to leave.
I'm sound asleep by the time Jefferson's figure gets up.Always wake up when Clinton appears.Maybe am waiting for Clinton to say something about "the behind scenes in the oval office". But then I realize I'm in the Magic Kingdom.

I've gone down the past 5 yrs with our students.I know the best places to nap in all 5 parks. And again I tested them all out.Found a new one in Animal Kindom this yr.
Let me know your children ages.Like Cap Crunch said'breakfast with the characters" is great"But it also depends on there age?

Advice for Disney - 2 things

Advice for Disney - 2 things

1. If kids are 10 or younger, try to go early, snack mid morning, and lunch and a pool break at hotel.
Food is very pricey in the park, and you will wait in a long line. We used to stop and get fast food, bring to pool, eat and relax. Then go back to parks at night for a couple of hours, its cooler and exciting for the little ones.

2. Bring lots of money....

Box....I may need those napping spots so I will be looking into that for sure! That may be the best info of all!

We are gonna only have 1 kid...9 years old. It is my niece. I am going with the inlaws so everyone is over 17 except the 9 year old.

Spaulding, you have a lot of good advice here.Forget going back to the hotel unless your at one of the mono rail hotels.By the time you leave the park, get on your bus,get to the hotel, walk to your room.etc you killed a lot of time already and you haven't even napped yet.Unless your spending 5 or 6 days down there. You have 4 parks and Universal.Universal is an all day so thats seperate.

Hi-lites..Magic Kingdom
Get to the park one hour before it opens.Go straight, hang a right, go to Space mountain. Then take off to frontier land for Splash Mt and Big Thunder.Your near Haunted mansion after that. Also close to my favorite "Country Jamboree" and the bears.Make sure you see the 3-D Mikeys Philahrmonic. It accross from my 3rd fav nap spot.."It's a small world".

Animal Kingdom...Safari ride,Lion King show,and the funniest 3-D Bug's world...

Epcot...ist place to go is the new "Soaring" in the Land.Unreal.Ride opened the day we were there. They were previewing it.Opens officailly May 20th.It's not a rollercoaster but a ride in a Max theater soaring over California. When you fly down on the golf course look out the foursome on the tee.A ball comes buzzing by you. It's Mickey who hits it.Everyone misses that because your ducking from the ball.
Lines will be long so get there fast.Mission to Mars is unreal. Will never go on it again.I got dizzy.Any ride that has vomit bags next to you ..ain't for me.2nd best nap place is the "ball".You sit back, and go off into space.zzzzzzzzzzz.They took Walter Conkrites narration away.

MGM..They just opened the new race car ride.Tower of power and rock'in coaster are the 1st thing to go to.Watched the indiana jones show for the 5th time.Still great.

Get info on speed passes.Make sure you go one nite to Disney's Shopping park.I forgot the name for it.Planet Holliwood is there. The legos figures are unreal.Get a ice cream at...I forgot the name...the choclate place in SF..ahhh

Thanks guys for all the advice! This sounds like its gonna be a hell of a time! I can't wait to hit some of the rides. Haven't been on a rollercoaster or anything like that in years (don't have many of those in the dakotas). Of course I will have to hit Box's nap spots...I think those are gonna be a must also!!

Thanks guys and keep posting if you think of anything else!!

Downtown Disney for shopping.

Also, don't forget the Rainforest Cafe. Great souvenirs.

Ghiradelli's I believe is the name. I know I'm close. Yummy chocolate!

Have fun!
