Going to North Myrtle Beach for two weeks in late August and would like to log some time hacking up some green's while there, anyone have any suggestions on what courses to play? I did a search and there are over 50 courses in that area and I was wondering if anyone has played there and what they would recommend. Also, anyone whom has vacationed there have any recomendations on any tourist activites then please post.

MC, we went down there three years ago and had an unbelievable package from Pawleys Plantation. It is just south of Myrtle on Pawleys Island. Three of the four courses we played were in the top 100 in the US. We got four nights stay, four rounds of golf with cart, range balls, full hot buffet breakfast each morning, a fish fry one night and keg beer night, all for $379 per person. And this is a Nicklaus Signature course. Check out the link:

You can also get a description of the each course from the link. Great golf and accomodations, it is about 15-20 miles south of the clutter and hubbub of Myrtle.

MC- just came back Wednesday night from Pawley's Island and specifically Pawleys Plantation where I have a vacation home. As indicated it is about 30+ miles south of where you are but where I believe some of the best courses are located. Right now Caledonia is closed because of problems with the greens. It is not supposed to reopen until September but I would check if I were you as it is one of the nicest courses down there. Many of the courses have had problems this year due to the weather. I played True Blue which I would suggest if you get a chance. Pawleys had the greens air raided last Monday so by the time you are there they should be in good shape. Again, I'm not as familiar with the northern courses but would suggest you check out one of the three I named as it is well worth you time. Regardless 125 courses in a 35 mile radius ensures you will have plenty of choices.

Check out this website. Tehy will send you a travel guild that I have found the best to get to info on all the courses and locations.

I've been to MB 4 times in the last 3 years. Broadway is the night life w/ 7 or 8 diffrent bars and clubs and all sorts of shopping and resturants. It's built for the tourist crowd. Some of my favroites The Endzone on RT17 100 TV and every sport you could want. Make sure you go to Ocean Annies @ the Sands Ocean Hotel. The have a minor league ball club the Pelican's. Alot to do. All the courses are good, but like anything there are some that just rank way above the others and so does the price. Some of my favorite top courses are in the North are Tigers Eye and Oyster Bay. About 40 minutes away is the International World Tour every hole is a replica of a world famous hole. another great course is Pine Lakes (The Grandaddy). Then if you want the long drive 1hr or so, there is True Blue, Caladonia and River Club in the south MB. Then you can stop at Murrells Inlet on the way back. If you want more info drop me an email [please do not post email addresses on the forum:admin].

Bigdad,

Hate to hear about Caledonia, it is truly an old style course and a blast to play.

How about those two par 3s on Pawleys out in the marsh with the 300 yard tee box and the two peninsula greens. Never seen that before and they were awesome to play!!

i have never been so disappointed in madjackers in the brief time i've been here. not a single mention of the casino boats yet. AND YOU CALL YOURSELVES GAMBLERS?! last time i was down there (about 3-4 years ago), there were two boats that went out into international waters. as a blackjack player, i was not happy with the lack of tables, but hey.... it's still a casino!!

oh, and we played eastport. it was a pretty decent course, and reasonably priced, as i recall.
