Great job Dawg!! Looks like those $7.90 "all you can shove in" boxes from the post office are going to be WAYYYY too small. Be prepared...a box that is approximately 24x24 x24 that is pretty heavily packed will be between $13 and $20. Sucks that the shipping costs so much to lend a helping hand to our troops. Again...GREAT JOB.

Yeah, I had to go another route on shipping. It looks like I can ship the boxes that I have for about $15-20, and they are more than twice as big as those pre-set packages.

Thanks for the help!

rrc- I am using USPS.

The box on the top right is not quite full, so it is waiting on the next shipment once I know how much money is left. I am sure one of you observant folks would have noticed and commented. ;)

Damn, I should've known! :mj07:

Actually, that's an autographed McNair jersey when he was drafted as the Oilers #1 pick.

..

I have a friend stationed at Abu Gaharib prison/hospital that I have sent a few packages to.

I'm not sure if it was covered in this thread or not, but there are several items that aren't allowed to be sent over there ... pork products and nudie mags among them.

Just check the post office before you box it all up, if its not too late. I'd hate to have someone take those items out.

And fyi, it takes about 15 days for the package to get there and the post office is pretty good on the price ... its usually pretty cheap to send.

You guys are doing a good thing. I can't wait to have these people back home.

Great job, Dawg!

Also, GM, I got your reimbursement check for this project this morning. I'm sure it arrived a while ago but I haven't checked my mail in a couple weeks. Thanks man.

Don't get sticker shock just sent a box to Rodney of stuff I mailed it on wen. am, have been friends for awhile, he is loaded on the stuff you all are seding and the box I sent him the weight was 64 pounds and had all the football books and a collection of stuff and maxium mags in it also with smokes for a friend of his, I have a ups account and they pack it very good and insure it, I knew a apo was going to cost going ups never sent one so heavy but price was 206 bones, but like I said it also weighed 64 pounds and nothing will break or melt, so you might get a little better price from post office don't know, hell between the box you guys are sending and what i sent him , he should be loaded. talk to him about 1 time a week if we can he will be very happy with the box from you all or boxes.

I will let you know DB when mine gets there, shoot me a email when you get a chance and let me know how much us post office was. i sent mine ups because it was so big i wanted yo make sure it all got packed right. If I did not have a business account with them would of gone to post office but will just use it as business write off.

I know he will be set for a good while and they will all use the stuff and share, it is just hard to get anything there he told me, so i sent everything he needed times 5 except batteries and white socks'

The local store where I got the stuff at I called ahead know one of the managers and they gave me 20 % off and had it all ready for me, which was a nice help on there part but just did not want you to be shocked at price. can't see it being much different then ups then again maybe they give a discount at us post office, me I got a nice write off and stuff was packeted in a double thick huge box which my UPS lady did not weigh box or charge for it she weighed box first then packed it took a good hour to make sure everything was safe and secure then did the weight -10 pounds for box and wrapping and peanuts, hell they will have enough razors for a year. and toothpaste also got a good special on those 2 things and pens they just gave me along with the 20 percent off and used his truck to get it over to ups store.

So email me the weight and price when you get it so I know the difference and will let you know how long mine takes I already know it left the ground from Vegas at 3 15 today because carol from ups called me and told me , she told me also the apo address cost more but like I said he is a friend so cost was no problem and can use it as a write off because was sent in company's name.

He was real excited when I talked to him Sunday about all the work you are were doing. nice work db and madjack people because it is almost impossible to get anything where they are at, got lot of paper comming from green valley ranch and envelopes legal from a local company sending them next tues with more books and a few more mags to read, that box can't come close to the price of one today, but please let me know cost difference and weight. when you have time. will talk to him I hope on fri sometime.

He will have his own pc soon incase anyone wants to drop him a line here and there.

You all and DB have done a great job it will bring many smiles on many faces. hell that was first time I ever bought smokes glad i do snuff 4 cartons of marbols lights and ultra light for 2 guys with him who really don't have anyone to send them stuff were up there will stay to my copenhagen little cheaper then the smokes.

Thank you all for your support

Thank you all for your support

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sitting here in my tent at 2300 iraqi time writing this as we now have internet in our tents. We all got together and bough internet from hadji lol. Pretty amazing is all I can say.

I wanna thank all who contributed to this package
we all thank you from southern baghdad :). I have also gotten several packages from other members of this site. The response has been overwhelming to say the least. I commend you all.

I am writing a letter to all who sent something. It may take me awhile but all should recieve one soon, mission first though.

On a sadder note, some may have seen it on the news we lost 4 soldiers to the enemy last week. They are the first we had lost since we touched ground nearly 3 months ago to enemy fire.

It was a hard loss for most of us. They were hit by a 500lb IED in a humvee, needless to say nothing was left. The hummer was ripped apart like a piece of aluminum foil. Only thing left was from the dash forward. I don't wanna get to graphic but this is what we face day in and day out. Also mortar attacks have picked up also lately, if it is not one thing it is the other.

So once again thank you for your packages, letters and prayers. All you have helped here thank you.

I will return soon and I will personally shake everyones hand in Vegas at the next Super Bowl party.

Thank you Madjackers you all should be proud.

Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got your letter early this week Rodney. Thanks for taking the time. My kids thought it was cool getting a letter from a soldier in Iraq. I have explained to them many times the situation over there.

Be careful. Hope to shake your hand in Vegas at the party. One thing's for sure, you won't be buying any rounds. We got your back on that.

Take care.

UPDATE: To make a long story short, I just got back from sending the packages. The postal workers were extremely helpful. They helped me fill out the custom forms and such.

Postage was $329.05  and should be there in about two weeks.

That brings are total to $1144.98 and leaves us with $134.79. That should get us one more nice box and shipping.

I apologize about it taking so long to get to the PO. :cursin:
