Monday was a very sad day for the Boilermaker Family. We had to have our English Bulldog " Purdue Pete " put to sleep. Friday he began to lose use of his back legs and by sunday he could barely move. He had been on 3 different artheritis medicines with none seeming to work. On sunday I took him to the vet for a steroid shot hoping by some miracle God would make him better. My prayers were not answered and by monday morning I knew what I had to do. I type this with tears welling up in my eyes. I am sure going to miss him as he and I were insepreble when I was at home. Many of you had heard me mention "Pete" in the past so you know the sorrow that I'm feeling. I have had other dogs and I'm sure I'll have another but he was so unique. There will never be another one like him God Bless you Pete, I love and sure miss you.

boilermaker Really sorry to hear of your loss, and I feel your pain. My/our sympathies go out to you and your family. And yes, I'm also typing this with tears in my eyes. Best to you and your family, and until we hook up again, take care buddy.
Thanks everyone. The house sure seems quite without old Pete around. Having the Grandaughter over sure helps to ease the pain.

tell you want i have a little dog and love the shit out of him , best friend by far , if he goes before me ,i will be very sad too, if someone hurt my dog i will kill , dogs are great but there life are so short, i guess we cannot take things for granted

Had my old dog's thoughts in my mind today, just because it was one year ago, I had my best friend Duke put down for the exact same reasons, his rear legs went out. I never thought I would have the courage to do it but I knew it had to be done, still hurts like hell, but I know it was the right thing, and it was the right thing w/ur dog also, even though u don't think so right now. I am sure both of our dogs will be waiting on us wherever the lord says it is time for us to pass. Til then old Duke lives on w/me pictures and thoughts and of course my avatar which I will never change again.
Hang tough Buddy, and when u think about getting another dog support ur local humane society
