To keep it really interesting...maybe consider a rule where if you go 0-3 (or 0-5) for a week you are eliminated entirely? This way it's never really over til it's over.

i like this wrinkle, although im not sure if it would be approved by the majority. probably wouldnt work for a SU contest. i dont know, maybe if all 3 of your games fail to cover by 14 points apiece or something. or some logical number that would make it work.

I won a contest with that wrinkle a few years back, so I guess that's why I'm partial to it. The only rules were pick 3 games every week and never go 0-3, and the best record won. Over 500 people started...only 24 managed to avoid a single 0-fer. Twelve weeks in I was playing but never gave any real thought to actually winning. Then people started dropping like flies and suddenly I was in the lead. I had plenty of 1-2 weeks...weeks where I hung on by a thread. Really entertaining contest.

I'd play but highly doubt that enough people would send money to make it interesting.

I'd also prefer bumping the entrance fee. But whatever works.

I'm in if its pick 3-5 games a week ATS and it pays 10% of the entries; for example 30 players, top 3 get paid. 25 players? you decide if you want to round up or round down.

If you turn it into some other mumbo jumbo thats being discussed in this thread, count me out.

I'm one of those people that might only do it once in a blue moon (too cheap).

I'm not a bonus whore, but a contest whore? Depends (at least I'm honest). Willing to post up, but not willing to part with too much coin if I'm not confident in my picking abilities (and even though the NFL is my favorite to bet, I kinda suck at it - too much heart betting instead of head).

Anyway, if there were more than just one prize, it would be more appealing (like someone suggested, 1st thru 3rd, perhaps)

i'll open the contest thread tomorrow in the contest forums.

i can't change the format of the contest but i can change the payouts. i'm thinking....

1st - 50%
2nd - 25%
3rd - 15%
4th - 5%
5th - 5%

it will be pick 3 each week. just picking the winner, not ATS. if someone should get a horse shoe up their butt and go 3-0 all 17 or 18 weeks, they will win a million bucks.

there will be other weekly prizes and yearly prizes as well.

it will be $100 buyin and will be held by a top notch sportsbook.

the winners will be paid to their account and there is no requirement to play with it. the winners may withdrawal immediately upon the end of the contest.

Jack,

Just picking the winner is going to be too easy. Imagine everyone will have the same picks every week when there are games with spreads of -10 to -14. ATS is the way to go. Im in agreement with others on here we need to use the Hilton format, 5 games each week but you have until Sunday morning to put your picks in.

pay out 1st thru 5th is great.

i like bbc's suggestion.

i'm in if we are able to pick 5 games, although i'll do 3 games...but ats only.

picking the winner doesn't interest me.

Im in regardless of ATS or just pick the winner.

Can you imagine everyone picking New England when they are playing at home?
