any EBAY pros out here? finally decided to try and get rid of some stuff on EBAY.

any art or antique/collectible experts here?

guess i'm wondering how to *guess* at a reserve price, since i don't wanna have to let go of something for a buck that is likely worth much more to the right buyer.

have lots of art crap that i want to get rid of...much has never been out of the shipping box, also some old beat up TONKA trucks (which was told a few years ago at a garage sale would go for at LEAST $50)

any advice on pricing things would be appreciated :)

oh, and GO NWLL tomorrow night :)

don't know about the values mama, do a search for completed auction.

But if u r new to listing things download a program called turbo lister off of ebay, it is a free download, saves a chitload of time listing, u can even schedule for upload time so it ends in primetime.

gl w/it!! Don't expect high dollars outta of collectibles right now, economy is in the chitter w/the gas prices, but it will sell.

Don't put reserves on your items. Start everything at $0.01 cents and let it ride. You'll get tons of people interested that way and on their watch lists, and in the end, you'll get more money. Also it's cheaper this way for listing fees. Don't be scared, just have faith it will sell. That's how I've always done things on ebay, and I've always got higher prices for my items than similar things with reserves.

CG and 6-5, thanks ....and 6-5, doesn't that mean i'd be required to sell to the highest bidder, even if an item only got one tiny bid?

why i'm wondering about the reserve is that i don't wanna let something worth hundreds go for $5.

also, sounds like you mean i should just list one thing at a time, and not all the stuff i want to get rid of together...

any chance you have people in any of your hunting forums interested in duck stamps?

mama just start the minimum off out at half what u think it is what u want for it. The bidding should raise the price close to your number. Starting out at a penny is asking for prob. cause u will be obligated to selling it for whatever. Reserve is a bad idea most bidders don't like it and ebay gouges u for an extra no refund charge on that also. Something else u should have a paypal account about 75 percent of the transactions are conducted instantly through that now, and it is secure. Also make damn sure u charge enuff for postage, if it is heavy it will cost u a ton right now, found out 50lbs costs about $35 through ups to ship. I've been on ebay since 98 seen alot of ups and downs, hopefullly these tips work for u.

mama, starting things out low like that has always worked for me. I've never been disappointed in a sale price.

Make sure you have good ads and a good subject line. Look at similar/same items as to what you are selling and check out finished auctions then current auctions. See what stuff is going for so you will have a realistic expectation. If "Seaweed" the beanie baby is only getting about $3 a pop, then don't put a reserve of $5 on yours.

I also like to do my auctions with no shipping charges IF it is something small. For some reason, people will see that and often bid your item up higher.

Are those Federal Duck Stamps you have for sale? Have they been used (we have to put our signature on ours before going hunting), or were they just bought for collectible sake? Something like that, I would put in a lot and sell all together.

mama,

you definitely need a good camera that takes good closeups.

lots of pics

good description and great topic header

no reserves, period. people won't bid.

end your auctions during high internet traffic times, never 3am or some chit.

paypal is a must.

it's gonna be tough getting top dollar without a nice feedback rating. takes time to get established.

i read recently, somewhere, that there are over 700 thousand people in the U.S. that uses ebay as their main source of income.

find out BTJ's username and do not sell to him because you will be stiffed ;)

have fun.

I buy a lot on EBAY (My feedback is more than 500), I always thought it'd be tougher to just have my pictures on my own PC, to have them displayed when whoever clicks on my 'Sell Item' .

If all I need to do is upload my pictures, I need to get started SELLING.
