I'm no expert on ths subject but done my fair share of research over the years and I believe the reasons why limiting or eliminating diet sodas is due to the caffeine in them. Too much caffeine is a diet killer. Not to mention al the chemicals used to make it. Plus have you ever done a pH test on a diet soda??? Diet Coke has a pH of about 2.5 to 3. Think of what that could do to a stomach liner.
That being said, I drink "caffeine free" diet coke and other varieties with no caffeine.
