is it just me or is the media pumping this like they're actually rooting for a level 5 and something worse than katrina.

sounds like they're hoping for a significant hit in NO too.

incredible.

Yeah, I kind of get that impression on this one also. They really seem excited that it turned into a Cat 4 last night and they keep pounding the possibility (hope?) that it hits New Orleans, even though it's tracking way southwest of there.

The models are saying Matagorda and so Houston is going nuts right now, we plan on riding it out. After watching Katrina unfold we are ready, supplies and plent of ammo!

ryson..

yeh be ready to shoot the looters from your attic.

Bad thing is there are more hurricanes to come behind this one.

Its global warming or something. Or maybe Al Queda is sending them.

Looks like Rita is headed straight at Galveston so I am out of here! Houston is 55 miles from the coast but after the devastation we have seen from Katrina I am taking the "better safe than sorry" approach. If nothing else, I don't want to be without power during the games this weekend.

I need a nice long weekend in Austin anyway. It's just too bad the Longhorns aren't playing or I could consider this a mini vacation.

God bless all that are in the path of this hurricane and please do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of you and your loved ones.

It's all about ratings. The more these cable news networks pump up the storm the more people keep on tuning in to see updates.

No doubt. And I don't think they are exaggerating the strength, as this will be devastating to wherever it hits. They just seem awfully happy that it went from a 2 to a 4 last night and they almost seem to be rooting for it to hit New Orleans. Ratings are ratings, but they should at least try to conceal their glee.

Daddy had them shipped to AR, but they did interview a number of them on the news and they were pissed and did not understand why they could not stay until Friday.....um there is a hurricane coming?

Love the reporters that do "on the scene" reporting and think they should get a fricking purple heart.

This is almost as big a circle jerk as the ESPY's.

Guess it's better than going to Iraq to do an "on the scene" report and getting your head separated from your shoulders.
