I know there are other opinions, but from what i have seen Raymer is a hack. Not like the others, but put him in a room with the real pros and he will walk out with empty pockets pretty much every time.

Raymer is not a hack by no means, you don't make it that far in 2 wsop's without knowing a thing or 2 about poker.

As for Hellmuth, his shtick won't run dry anytime soon. Many people find him very entertaining. I like watching him and another good player (Sam Farha) the best - the most entertaining one's to watch. Also, he's pretty damn good - I've seen him beat the best time after time and lose to them too.

Daniel Negreanu has some obstacles to overcome but I think he could win one of these WSOP's in the future.

Agent....Sun Tzu lumped Raymer in with Varkoni and Moneymaker. I believe that is what everyone is referring to. As for Phil, I love watching him. I don't mind when he wins but he's so much more entertaining when he loses. I think he's great at reading people but maybe not quite as good as Negreanu. Negreanu will win one someday if the cards fall even partially in his favor. Matusow last night reminded of Judd Nelson in the Breakfast Club when he kept getting saturday schools tacked on.......very fuking funny.

I'm sick of hearing Matusow and Phil bitch about amatuers. In part this is why I cant watch it on tv anymore, I havent watch one episode of the 05 series because I hate hearing the same complaints and the same stupid jokes from Norman Chad. If it wasnt for tv and the internet and all these internet players, the same 20 high stakes players would still be diddling themselves at the Bellagio like in the "old days" of the mid nineties when no one could put together a game out there. They all used to bitch about how no one wanted to play them. Now that they are, they dont like that either. Reminds me of golfers in the late 90s who used to bitch about all the attention Tiger got, until their purses started increasing by factors of 10 because of Tiger. They cant have it both ways.

Poker always has been and always will be 98.5% luck of the cards, I dont care what anyone else says. You can get pocket pairs till the cows come home, but if some drunk azzhole is getting lucky, it doesnt matter if you play every hand perfect or by the book or what, you will get wiped out. Otherwise the "greatest" players in the world would win every time. Phil wonders how so many "bad" players make final tables, its sheer #s. Out of the field at the main event, how many players were there, 7,000? at least 98% of that field is amatuer, so by sheer #s, you see amatuers at the final table. But there are so many Rounders wannabees now, they all think they are pros, they all think they know everything and how every hand should be played. Luck and varience still rule this game. Pocket aces are still going to lose to a random junk hand every once in a while, it happens, you cant just go all in, lose and bitch about it.

Case in point, I played in several satellites and side tournaments during the WS this year. I was at one table, running great and happened to beat a guy out of a big pot - I had pocket 10s, flopped a set, he lost with AK ace high. Whoopy, happens all the time. Anyway, he procedes to cuss me out, starts cursing about how "lucky" players "like me" are ruining the game (to say nothing of the fact he doesnt know dick about my background), throws his cards at the dealer, curses at her, and walks out. Yeah, this is a real fun game, real great element poker is drawing.

I've been playing in casinos since 92 and frankly, I'm sick of poker. I put myself through business school in part playing online and yeah the games are still great as hell, but I dont know if I've burned out or just gotten sick of playing or sick of seeing it on tv 24/7 or what. But I think the poker boom has to run its course at some point. Anyone else out there in the same boat?

Ace I get that feeling alot too. In part because of Holdem. Its such a bad beat game and you can do the right thing EVERY hand Every situation and still lose. Played in a tourney last night, 25 buy in unlimited rebuys first hour. I finished 6th out of like 90 players but the final table was a joke. This girl to my left played EVERY hand no matter what and just beat everyone. She took me out with A6 when I went all in with KK. Just a retarded game. So many forget it was designed to be played AFTER the flop. Limit is just as maddening. Not to mention all these young kids in every game with sunglasses, and they take FOREVER on every hand. I mean we all KNOw youre folding dude just FOLDDDDDDDD :cursin: And I argued with a guy the other night till we were ready to fight. He kept folding out of turn not respecting the guy to his right having cards. Well he did it like 5 times and finally it almost cost me a pot and I said "why dont you wait your turn" He says "I cant see his cards (nevermind he hardly looked). I said well take your fukin sunglasses off it makes it so much easier to see indoors!! Needless to say it didnt go over well.

Im waiting one time for some amateur to just bit ch slap the fawk out of hellmuth. last nite would of been an excellent time to do it when hellmuth was head to head with an amateur and had him beat before the flop and the amateur hit on the river to beat hellmuth.

Players dont realize that theres not a law against outdrawing someon else. Just because you are beat before the flop or still beat after the flop doesnt mean you cant win the hand. Thats the problem i have with hellmuth is he thinks just because hes a 4/1 favorite he cant be outdrawn.

Do what I do, go to a 25 max buy in internet table and raise it EVERY hand, raise, reraise, call, just keep going. The best thing that can happen is to get stuck about 50 playin BS and get caught bluffing. Then when you finally start to hit a little you will destroy the whole table. Youll make hands like 4s and 8s :mj07: and they will never know what you have. Talk shit the whole time too, call them morons and idiots. They tilt so bad its amazing. After you win about 400 playing this way you will wonder why anyone ever bothers to play right. I want my guy guessing, I dont want them to know what I have.

Agent its funny you say that, for almost 10 years you could only get stud games in the casinos. But no one played, too much of a "thinking" game, having to remember discards and all. Once holdem came along, we got what we wanted, we got more players, but it is MUCH more of a beat game - especially no limit. I love playing stud hilo still but its a dead game for the most part.

Stud Hi-Lo is by far my favorite game. Im not sure I have ever lost at it. Anytime you can nut a guy up like I did the other night while hes on the phone he calls my 4000 all in with AQ off and of course I have AK of diamonds but the flop is QQ3 :cursin: But when you look it up Im only 3-1 favorite which is crazy, its the situation you dream of. Just like what happened to Hellmuth.
