Just wondering what everyone thinks about this one.

I have a feeling that ND will pound TENN, but it also wouldn't really surprise me to see TENN pull off the upset. That is the type of team they have been over the past few years.

I want to take ND, but something about this one scares me.

All thoughts are welcomed.

would it really be an "upset" if tennesee wins? they've got top 10 talent. and up and down the roster, theyre probably better than notre dame. but irish have a huge edge on the sidelines. that might be enough to win and cover. in fact, it probably will be. but vols could easily win SU too.

Probably better than Notre Dame? Better on the sidelines? An overmatched ND squad with a different coach beat Tennessee on their home field as 7 point dogs last year. Lame excuse. I agree that Tennessee could easily win this game SU because they play great D and can go into hostile environments and win. I will probably tease Tennessee up to 2 TD's actually, they're the best 3-4 team in college football and have lost two heartbreakers this year that easily could have gone their way. That being said, and acknowledged, they have been outplayed three times this season too by good, but not great teams. To say they are "probably better" than an ND team that outplayed the #1 team in the country and lost only one other time in overtime, leading in almost every quarter of every game besides those two matches, takes big cahones. Prove it. Yeah, that is where I went to school but I'm sure plenty of other people on this board will support what I said.

Buffalo Bill - Firstly, Ive enjoyed your plays and analysis. Ill offer mine

Though process on a typical no play for me while analyzing:

1. Team A should win handily
2. Although....I wouldnt be surprised if Team B won SU
3. Line is hovering around a TD
4. No play, but watch

Good Luck whatever you do!

Tennessee, by virtue of the fat guy on the sidelines, plays up and down to the level of their opponent...vols get the cover here...

ND/Vols

ND/Vols

UT running back Adrian Foster is suppose to have an MRI on his shoulder tomorrow, and is currently listed as doubtful. UT passing game has been struggling and now theii #1 back is out(riggs) and foster looks doubtful.

The more I look at this game, the more I am liking ND.

I think Weiss will have the troops ready after the bye, and I think the players know how important this game is.

Tenn really hasn't beat anyone, except for the late comeback in LSU, which I think was a bit of a fluke.

Tenn was also a much better team at that point in the season.

They are reeling on offense. No Riggs, and now I think their backup running back might be out as well.

The defense might be able to contain the ND offense, but I don't see the offense scoring much.

27-13 ND.

I have to agree with G-man

I have to agree with G-man

Tenn has been an underachiever this season. They do have top ten talent. "But Tenn has a slow defense" just a joke G-man before you go nutz. I feel ND is a solid play on this one I can't see Tenn giving them much of a game on the road.

Taking the points here also. ND have been very good this year but like the points in what should be a solid game of football.

How could you feel that confident after a loss to a poor South Carolina team. I said it once and I'll say it again underachievers. ND rolls Tenn take the points.

Don't fall for the trap... ND will beat this team by 2tds or more. Tennessee is in shambles. If they had a decent QB I would stay away from this game, but their offense is all about pounding the ball. That is what the ND defense does best.

Tom Zibikowski (215) and the Duke (232)are two big safties they play well agianst the run. Both have a tendency to bite on the play action but they come in and hit hard.

Weis had two weeks to prepare for this team. He may not even run the ball. Tennessee will have to face multiple receiver sets with a great QB and receivers that are both 6 feet 5 inches (Stovall and Smardjza). The Vols defense will be on the game a lot and will eventurally wear down.

The x factor is Fasano a certain first rounder if he decides to come out. One thing Tennesse has are fast linebackers and if they can neutralize Fassano in the open field and pressure Quinn this will give them the best chance of covering the game and maybe winning. But I think Weis and Minter know this and will spread the defense out to three and four recever sets.

My final prediction is 31-17 and I will be at the game. I will not bet since I'm diehard Irish but I would lean towards ND. I think ND biggest test the rest of the way is Stanford at Stanford.

I don't support what you said and will challenge your statement! I would hate to see anybody playing ND over TN solely because you said "[ND] outplayed the #1 team in the country." So I'll fix that! :)

USC 34 ND 31

USC 446 total yards offense
ND 417 total yards offense

USC 301 yards passing
ND 264 yards passing

USC 8.6 yards per pass
ND 6.9 yards per pass

USC 175 yards rushing
ND 153 yards rushing

USC 5.6 yards per rush
ND 2.9 yards per rush

USC = 2 turnovers
ND = 2 turnovers

ND TOP 38 min. 40 sec.
USC TOP 21 min. 20 sec.

*USC 5 dropped passes and refs blowing 2 penalty calls on ND punt return. Don't forget the PF refs called on USC after USC stopped ND on 3rd down on ND 12 yard line. BS!

I would say both teams played on par and it was a great game. Don't forget the game was @ND! As a result, it was a close game. But you easily could argue USC played sloppy and bad calls from refs made it a close game! I don't think ANYBODY would say ND outplayed USC (except you).

GO IRISH!

Scott - I agree with you that both teams played to about a tie. But for the love of god quit saying that ND got away with two holding calls for that punt return. I have watched that game three times and there was NO hold. ND had many drops too and costly turnovers.

Furthermore, you fail to mention the Bullshat personal foul on C. Frome that would have resulted in a 4th down instead of a 1st and goal. Which resulted in a TD for USC. Refs made a few bad calls on both teams. None worse than bullshat push by Bush at the end of the game. As I said before, Weis said he would hope his running back would do the same thing if in that position.

IF Derek thinks ND outplayed USC that is his opinion and it is shared by many people from the media and other fans. BUT the game is over let's all move on.

They weren't holding calls. They were block in the backs. You were looking for the wrong thing.

I didn't bring it up. Derek did. Derek is allowed to shoot his mouth off about the game and I am not?

I don't want anyone taking ND over TN solely because they were told ND outplayed USC. Which simply isn't true! After reading Dereks opinion and the facts that support mine, now a poster can make and an educated decision for himself! :)

I didnt tell anyone to take ND buddy, READ the whole post before you SHOOT off your mouth
Below is EXACTLY what my first post said, copy and pasted

where does that suggest ND will cover this game?

And beating a team in some statistical categories does NOT mean one team outplayed another. You even mentioned special teams yourself, and our special teams outplayed yours for a very big TD that gave ND the edge as far as who outplayed who. This thread is not for you and I to debate that game, but dont take what I said out of context.
