A Mark Richt rested team, playing at 7:45 tween the hedges & all starters healthy, spells disaster for the plainsmen.

Look for a game like 2003 where UGA gets up fast and UGA's defense dominates.

In Mark Richt's 5 years, UGA has only been dominated by a team twice - LSU in 03' & Aub in 04'. You saw what happened to LSU in 04'.......UGA 45 LSU 16. Expect the similar this year for Aub. The only bowl eligible teams Aub has played, they lost.

UGA 24 plainsmen 10

Any concern about UGA's lack of quality wins? Outside of the Boise win, (just because it was so dominating) I don't think the Bulldogs have beaten anyone all too special either, since the Tennessee win looks worse and worse as the weeks pass.

Personally I think the Auburn lineplay is too much for your boys, but best of luck and thanks for the info on Richt.

I would consider the UT win a quality win at the time b/c it was UGA that started UT's 4 game losing streak. I believe UT was ranked #8. The Boise win isn't much to talk about since it was the media that made them more than what they really are.

We are better at every position except for WR and UGAs special teams unit is far superior than Aub's.

I've wondered the same thing about AU's "quality wins." Two of their foes could not beat a quality high school team, yet AU claims to have a powerhouse offense.

We don't claim to have a powerhouse offense, but at least we can score touchdowns against SEC opponents, unlike some teams in this state.

South Carolina is bowl elgible and AU beat them by 39 points more than UGA did "between those very same hedges"

Anyone who watched the Kentucky/Auburn knows that AU has plenty of weaknesses. I know AU was probably looking past the UK team that has been plagued with injuries and has a roster that is 65% freshmen and sophomores, but their defense gave up 27 points to this team. When GA watches this game film, they will be salivating. It was the worst officiated game I have ever seen. I know that doesn't mean much coming from a UK fan, but watch the film and tell me that there wasn't 3 blown calls in this game that led to 2 AU TD's and took one away from UK. The SEC ruled that our center could play next week vs. Vandy after being ejected in the 2nd half. I guess that's their way of saying sorry for the :142hump:. I wouldn't say GA is a gimmie, but there is no way I could back Auburn after watching their defensive effort last weekend at Commonwealth Stadium.

11/05/2005
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Kenny Irons, Tristan Davis and Tre Smith combined for 365 yards rushing and five touchdowns as No. 17 Auburn beat Kentucky 49-27 on Saturday.
Irons carried 23 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half, while Davis added 162 yards and a touchdown on eight carries as the Tigers (7-2, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) prepped for a showdown next Saturday at No. 11 Georgia.

Kentucky (2-6, 1-4) has lost 15 straight games to Auburn, dating to 1966, but scored more points against the Tigers than any other team this season. Auburn entered the game ranked fourth in NCAA Division I-A in total defense, while Kentucky ranked 108th in total offense. The Tigers had allowed a total of 47 points in five previous SEC games.

Auburn finished with a season-high 589 yards of offense, wearing down the Wildcats with touchdown drives of 80, 69, 80, 75, 81 and 80 yards. Irons scored on runs of 9, 1 and 2 yards, while Davis - a part-time defensive back who entered the game with two carries this season - took over in the second half and sprinted 75 yards for a score the first time he touched the football.

Receiver Prechae Rodriguez caught a 41-yard touchdown pass in the first half and scored on a 5-yard reverse play in the fourth quarter. Smith finished with 13 carries for 99 yards, including a 46-yard fourth-quarter touchdown run.

Kentucky tailback Rafael Little, the SEC's leader in all-purpose yards, rushed 17 times for 124 yards and two touchdowns and caught six passes for 122 yards. He became the first Kentucky player to record at least 100 yards rushing and receiving in the same game since Anthony White against South Carolina on Oct. 10, 1998.

Little scored on a 25-yard run, after Kentucky's Arliss Beach recovered a fumbled punt, to put Kentucky up 7-0 less than three minutes into the game. But Auburn responded with touchdowns on four of its first five possessions to take a 28-10 halftime lead.

Irons' first touchdown tied the score. It came one play after officials ruled Auburn receiver Ben Obomanu was down and didn't fumble after catching a pass. The play was reviewed and upheld.

Irons scored on a fourth-and-goal play from the 1 to put Auburn up 14-7. Kentucky pulled within 14-10 on a 25-yard field goal from Taylor Begley, but then Auburn caught another break from the officials midway through the second quarter.

Rodriguez went out of bounds, then came back in before catching a 41-yard pass from Brandon Cox and stepping into the end zone.

An offensive player who goes out of bounds on a play cannot be the first player to touch the football after coming back inbounds, but officials ruled that Kentucky cornerback Antoine Huffman blocked Rodriguez out of bounds and allowed the touchdown to stand. Replays showed Rodriguez had pushed Huffman before going out of bounds, but that wasn't reviewable.

Kentucky coaches protested the call so much they drew two personal fouls, and a few fans threw items onto the field. When officials exited the field at halftime, a dozen uniformed officers were present on the field and in the stands for crowd-control purposes.

Kentucky athletic department spokesman Scott Stricklin said neither the officiating crew nor the replay official would comment about the calls.

Auburn 1st string defense only gave up 10 points, 7 of which came off of a Tre Smith Fumble deep in Auburn territory after UK went 3 and out to start the game.

Auburn played their entire defensive roster in the second half to rest the starters for the UGA game.

So that film UGA will be salivating over will be featuring guys who will be on the sidelines this weekend.

Sounds like you may have been one of the fans throwing bottles on the field... :mj07:

Touchdown? You make the call

This call wasn't mentioned in the article. I guess the future looks dim for the mighty tigers, because our freshmen and sophomores pounded your so-called back-ups. :mj15: Did you even watch the game? I don't recall bottles being thrown on the field. Maybe you should watch the film and get back to me.

It won't matter what defensive personnel that Aub trots out on the field Sat. One good DE and one good linebacker isn't going to be enough to slow down the Dawg offense. Not saying that UGA is an offensive juggernaut but the offense will exploit Aub's so-called "undersized but fast" defense. Ears will be in for a long day.

First of all, I can't believe a Kentucky fan is even in the football forum. Maybe you should scroll down to the Hoops threads.

How can you say a team that beat you 49-27 got pounded at any time?

Both 2nd half touchdowns were set-up by big runs on busted plays where our inexperienced frosh and soph's missed tackles. Not exactly pounding. Sometimes when you're on the road and pounding a team, you let off the gas a little.

And if there were no bottles thrown, maybe there should've been, because that would be the only way you guys could've slowed down AU's fifth-string RB that torched your pathetic KATS for 162 yards on 8 carries.

Scratch'em Kats!

What's sad is that you're spending valuable time defending the way your team played against a far inferior opponent. I'm trying to add to the forum by pointing out that Auburn's defense is not as dominating as everyone thought. Before taking AU and the 3pts. this week, watch the UK game. Bad calls or not, I'm just putting it out there. I know how bad my team is, good luck convincing everyone how good yours is. After Saturday, it will be alot tougher. :grins:

We'll talk roundball in March :topic:

Not really defending my team as much as I am pointing out that you are doing a very poor job of making any sense.

Trying to say that a defense that is ranked #4 in scoring defense, #9 in total defense is weak because they let a scrub team score a couple of garbage TD's late in a game that was out of reach at halftime, shows a lack of knowledge on your part and an abundance of inexperience in the SEC.

dlvlsu,

Good luck taking Aub and the spot. I hope you don't drop too much on this contest. I don't think UGA is so impressive but do think that they are the best team in the SEC this year. You will agree when you watch them dismantle which ever team represents the SEC West in the SECC game. Compare scores of similar opponents all you want. That will have absolutely no bearing on the outcome of the UGA vs Aub game. UGA will have all the tangible & intangible factors in their corner Sat night!

 for your national defensive rankings!
Don't get so upset when I point out that Kentucky's pathetic offense moved the ball on you guys. I'm aware that Tubberville played alot of players. The fact is Kentucky had 20 first downs and 450 yards total offense. You can't write it all off to "late garbage TD's". This is the same team that scored 7pts @ Ole Miss and a whopping 13pts against Miss. St. I don't see why this is so hard for you to comprehend. I know it hurts, but you guys have some secondary and tackling issues. I'm sure Tubberville saw this more than anyone, and will address it in practice this week. I'm not wagering on this game, I'm not trying to make a case to take GA -3. I'm simply giving input on a team that I watched play every down last week. If you don't agree, be a homer and put your life savings on Auburn. I'm sure the rest of the board appreciates an unbiased opinion.
