"Yep. I'm wrong, but any list that would have Louisville as safer than Nashville is one that I don't have a lot of faith in."

I Agree Dawg--No question.

At the bar
I can believe Nashville being 8th. The number of murders for this year passed 2004 numbers back in September. In the past 2 years working in the bar scene, I've seen a guy get shot in the face and stumble across the street and die. Also one block away from the bar, two guys were shot and killed after a 50 cent concert (Imagine that). There has also been numerous shootings on 2nd Ave. on the weekends and the problems continue to grow.

It's been the same for 15 years, and probably more. It's a dangerous place.

You probably were in some town outside of it or something.

i played on the yanks for yale heights. can't remember the coach's name off hand. i lived on s wickham rd and hung out between there and paradise mostly. started the drinking (when i was 12/13) at some christian school near the cemetary and railroad tracks. this was between 1964 and 1968. i went to walts bakery, morans and tremonts for candy and baseball cards. hung out for sandlot bases at beechfield park behind the elementary school. i also remember rock glen and the racial shit going on. remember fish lips because i was in the office a lot back in those days for playing hookie.

Reminds me of most lists on most subjects. There are always 4 or 5 obvious answers and then after that you wonder what the heck they are thinking.

Don't know where he got his list, but have all the papers on my table that came while I was gone and on front page of LVRJ on Tues. nov. 22nd says Las Vegas jumps from 7th most dangerous place to live in the united states to 6th for major cities, and the Metro area overall was ranked 4th that is Vegas city and metro which is outside of city but still part of Clark county. Henderson where I live was ranked 28th in safest places to live. Henderson is not part of Las Vegas far from it in terms of everything. It is it's own city and has been fastest growing city for the last 7 years will reach size of Vegas in next 10 years over 1 million in that time frame and unlike Las Vegas and Vegas metro Henderson has the space to do it, Also Starting pay for law enforcement in Henderson is number 1 in the United States they start out at 51,000 a year and top out at 76,000. That is one of the reasons Henderson does not have 1/100th the problems they have in Vegas and the housing cost in the master planned communities in Henderson keep crime why down. Henderson has over 1000 law enforcement officers, so well worth the pay they get for the job they do, metro only starts out at 42,500 and Vegas pays 39,000 to start out. You have tons of officers trying to get on with Henderson and lot of your top of the line Vegas and metro officers transfer to Henderson when a position opens up, not just street patrol, but csi investigators, corrections officers which are cross certified or they have to be to work for the city of Henderson .

But i saw the list on cnn and on my pc on msn before I even came home and saw front page of paper but I was not shocked at all, Vegas and metro Vegas is a war zone ran by gangs, most people who do not live here and come to visit just see the strip which is a small part of Vegas and it is safe there and Vegas officers and metro make sure of that very safe. But stroll off the strip a few blocks at night between trop and Sahara and go left by stratosphere and chances are you will be robbed or shot, your in 1 of 8 major drug and gang districts. Vegas is what you see on tv or when you visit the strip. Well that is far from real Vegas and take a trip to downtown and get lost or walk off Fremont street any directions and see how it is. or down on Washington and Jones or mlk blvd. Vegas is far less safer then Atlanta lived in both Most of Vegas once you get off the strip is like college park in Atlanta or liberty city in Miami.

Trust me the Vegas you see on TV or the strip you visit is far from the real Vegas and Metor area. Of course they keep the strip clear from most of all the thugs and thugs know this but it is far from a even remote safe place to be and would never live in Vegas and metro Vegas and damn sure would not drive around at night as a tourist except on strip unless you know what parts of town your in or going to and how to get from point a to point b with out going through gang land which was also story in paper about how Vegas gang unit has 526 known gangs in Vegas and metro Vegas.

Safe I don't think so.
