My 56 inch HDTV I bought in February is somehow f***ed up. The screen is a lot darker than normal, and all the people look green??? :wtf: :cursin: I tried unplugging it for 5 hours to reset? Messing with the brightness helps, but not much. What gives? Maybe a bulb out or something? They cant come repair it until next week the 28th of course so will miss lots of football. Watching NBA is pointless, I cant see anything but eyes and teeth. HELP!!

is it a rear projection?

if it is, its no doubt the bulb. hopefully you bought the 3 or 4 year protection plan. if you did they will come and change it for you. if you just have the standard 1 year warranty you are gonna have a hell of a time bringing it to a licensed dealer.

Yes, rear projection.

The company I bought it from is H.H. Gregg. They gave me a number for service, its Tops Electronics? Thats who is coming here to fix it and its a standard warranty I think, gonna go check. Why would that matter since its inside the 1 year?

at least in my case if you buy the service plan from the store, the store will come and fix it. if you just have the one year warranty from the maker of the tv, they sure as hell aint coming to your home. you have to bring it to one of their licensed dealers.

thats my scenario. maybe others have different plans.

new poster here...damn.. I just bought a 50" wega lcd, and declined the "extended" warranty. I normally thinks warranties are scams, but am now second guessing that thought...

Yeah this thing says Priority service :s4: To the top of the line, well I didnt tell them I had this and they blew me off till next week even though I begged to have it done for the Holidays as people will be here. 5 years all parts, all labor, in home service, no deductible has ALL the bells and whistles. I dont know why I bought it as I almost never do either but can only figure everyone here suggested I do as I had a whole thread on this TV. For 359.00, real glad I did!

Well thought I would bump this, I went to H.H Gregg where I bought the TV today after my new found discovery of my 5 year warranty deal. The service manager said they are "brokering" their service to Tops Elec. now and have had lots of problems. He agreed with my argument that they needed to take care of me since this thing says-priority service. 3 emails and 10 minutes later, my appointment was bumped up to Friday so I will have my TV for the weekend :) :) :) Looks like it paid off in this instance to purchase this plan! Especially since a bulb went out after not even a year Im really glad I have a 5 year plan. Also some good advice from a technician was to make sure they service all the "guns" otherwise the new one would be brighter than the rest, making weird looking colors.

I noticed you've been posting like a whole lot lately agent. You must be off of work for a while during the holidays. It seems like you have way too much time on your hands.....

Good news for you with the TV, you couch potato..

I am planning on buying the 50A10 tv probably next week.

And for once Agent is telling the truth his tv upstairs does look like crap. The Biatch even tried to work her magic on the tv and it didn't help.

Just wanted to give props to Agent who I just signed up for car insurance with, I think I am on pace to save about 700 dollars a year thanks to this man.

Of course he also owes me a round or two of golf and a free lesson. Agent can talk some crap with the best of them, but he is saving me a ton of money on just one car, looks like my previous insurance company was making a fortune off me.

Thanks Agent

I had a guy come calibrate my plasma he was very good and reasonably priced ($300 if I remember correctly). He lives in Ohio, but does make road trips (I live in DC Metro Area). If you want his e-mail let me know and I will give it to you. I'm pretty sure he could fix this for you, he was very knowledgeable.

You may want to think about getting it professionally calibrated regardless. You'll definately see a better picture, but its a personal decisionif its worth the $$$ or not.

Here is his web page if you want to check it out:

http://www.hdtvbychadb.com

You can just google his name (Chad Billheimer) and you'll see some quality reviews by customers.

i ususlly never get warranties, but my big screen was an exception. that along with the phone companies inside wiring plan for about 50 cents is well worth it.
