I just talked to my younger brother today-he lives in Wilmington,NC--he is a Teacher down there and after school got out yesterday he decided to do some last minute x-mas shopping.....anyway, he said he had about $800.00 in a money clip in large bills and was going from shop to shop in the Mall when he realized his clip was no longer in his pocket...his first thought was pick-pocket and then that he just lost it or dropped out of his pants pocket....well he went to all the stores and looked on the floors etc-you know all the things that you would do...he went to courtesy desks and told people he lost it etc...well he gave up and went home figuring thats 8 bills gone forever-well 3 hours later a store called and said that someone turned the clip in (his initials are on the clip) all the $$ was there and the store employee said it was a old man who did want to leave his name or anything that turned it in.....amazing that there are still honest people out there.....also the store employee could have probably pocketed it also....wow!!

How did they get his phone number from his initials on the clip?
:mj07: maybe he left his number just in case somebody turned it in?

on a similar note. i did shopping at wal-mart and bought 2 cases of bud amongst other things. about an hour after i got home i decide i wanted a beer and didn't remember bringing them in the house. F^%K, i left them on the bottom of the cart when i returned the cart to the cart thingy. wife tells me to call wal-mart, maybe somebody turned them in. yeah right. well, i call anyway. no way. left 2 cases of beer for some dishonest, lucky plick that found them. :cursin:

wow I had the same thing happen to me last year. I stop at the store to get some last minute thing before going camping with the family and friends. I came home and had lost my wallet with about$700 in it.I went to the store and asked at the desk and she said a kid had just turned it in. All the money was there I wish I could have given the kid something but he was gone.

Two cases of bud? There's 12 bucks down the drain.

technically, they would have gone down the drain even if he had remembered to bring them home. (or in Jack's case, maybe they would have gone into writing his name in the snow) ;)

On a similar note once about 2 yrs ago the same thing similarly happened to me. However, it was for a case of bottled water. I could have cared less and would not have missed the $6 or so I spent for it. The grocery store was next door to my apartment and I'm sure the store manager saw me in there frequently. Well, the next time I was in there I mentioned it to him and he said "go grab one." I did, and it didn't bother me at all doing so because I was being honest with him. So, I guess you could always talk to the store manager as an option.

North Carolina is a good place like that. You know, there are good people everywhere. But growing up in NJ and then living in NC has really let me appreciate the quality of people down there. They really are genuinely good. Wait, scratch that, they're terrible. There are enough of us yanks moving down there as it is!

Here's one that'll shock you:
I just won 6k at a casino,,went to work with it still in my console of my suburban,,didn't want to put it in my pocket being at work all day.
I dropped my truck off to get it detailed,,yeah, I forgot about the cash until I got back in the truck.
A sick feeling came over me as I slowly opened the console,,gone!
I asked the garage owner to check on who worked on my truck,,got the name and called him.
And do you believe,,he didn't take it!! Didn't know anything about it! He was the only one working on my truck.
The owner said he couldn't do anything,,the guy said he didn't have it,,so that's it.
That felt good for a while! :s4:
Oh, BTW,,this was one week before Christmas.
That dude probably didn't work for a while. :cursin:
