Boise (+2) over BC

BC has a VERY good O-line and Boise might not get one bit of pressure on BC QB. THIS IS VERY BAD NEWS because BC offense is capable as well. The Eagles scored 30 points or more 5 times this season using a balanced game plan, averaging 146.6 rushing yards and 241.5 passing yards per game. It helps that this is a home game for Boise. In 3 bowl games at Bronco Stadium, Boise State beat Iowa State in 2002, UTEP in 2000 and Louisville in 1999. The Broncos, who outscored their opponents 282-110 in 6 home games this season, haven't lost at Bronco Stadium since a 41-20 defeat to Washington State on Sept. 8, 2001. The Broncos have averaged 41.9 points per game, most in the nation. BUT BC had the nation's 9th-best scoring defense in the regular season, allowing opponents 15.5 points per game. BC has the edge in talent but the home field advantage might be enough for Boise to pull off the upset, the Broncos will be playing hard for Coach Hawkins and it should be a very good battle. IMO Boise wins this game but I'll take the points just in case. BC isn't the strongest road team and the broncos are a very good home team, plus BC might be a little disappointed to be in this game and come out a little flat. The Broncos need to make some big plays get the home crowd into this game and take advantage of BC misques. Have to see the broncos come out fired up and ready on the smurf turf.

GL today Irish. Very happy to see you on the Broncos in this one. Doesn't look like we have much company though. I'm happy to take the home team with 31 straght home wins and fired up to send Coach Hawk off with his final present from Bronco Stadium :mj14:

Best of luck this bowl season Irish. I'd be inclined to agree with you about BC being flat, but I do think the Bowl win streak is something that holds credence with them. Will be an interesting matchup.

Michigan (-10.5) over Nebraska

Nebraska had the good fortune to finish the season playing a poor Kstate and a poor Colorado team to give them false hope in this contest. Michigan and Nebraska share a record but talent wise the Wolverines are heads above. The Nebraska defense took another hit this week losing yet another starting LB. Michigan beat a very good Penn st team, crushed N'Western, and beat a very solid Iowa team. Michigan was 3 points away from beating Minny and Wiscy and only 4 from beating Ohio St. The Wolverines will come out strong and look to get all over the Nebraska offense. Taylor is the life blood of nebraska because the Callahan west coast offense plan is taking form. As much as the 2 wins to end the season help Nebraska I am more looking at the 2 games before that where Kansas destroyed them and Oklahoma (Peterson) ran right over them in Lincoln. The Wolverines' weakness all season has been an inability to establish a consistent running game because of injuries to sophomore running back Mike Hart. He is nursing an ankle sprain but should see action on big downs. He has 588 yards and four touchdowns in seven games this year after rushing for 1,455 yards and will be KEY in this game. Michigan, who leads the nation in fewest penalties and has only lost 15 turnovers on the year shouldn't beat themselves in this game and that is a problem for the big red. Nebraska doesn't have the talent to cover the speed and size of Michigan's receivers. Plus the beef on the Michigan O-line should give Henne time. Injuries and ineligibility will hurt some of the Nebraska defensive players. IMO Mich has the advantage on both sides of the field and on special teams.

Ice Cold lately.....

Oregon (-3.5) over Oklahoma

All the talk is how the Sooners are happy to be bowling and the ducks want to be in a BCS bowl. However I would think this duck team uses that to get motivated for this game. The ducks have a very good offense that can get it done through the air and on the ground. Dixon and leaf will lead the duck attack at QB. Dixon the shifty play maker who I personally think is the better QB and Leaf the more drop back passer with his brothers strong arm and good touch. The Ducks have a great pack of Wide outs, whose speed should be a good advantage against Oklahoma. I also like the TE day to have a big game, he has great size and skill for a TE but has had problems holding onto passes. The ducks will have to stop the run. Bomar will get into trouble if forced to throw and Stoops likes to take the game out of his hands and put it into Peterson's. Duck Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata needs to be a run stopper inside and the LBs have to contain or it will be a long day for the Ducks. Neither team will be able to stop the other and the Ducks should pull away with more options on offense. If the ducks need to get motivated they may want to think about the beating Oklahoma gave them a 31-7 beating last year. The sooners are 5-0 against Oregon but all of those games were in Norman.
