I have heard this twice today already, and it seems I have been hearing it a lot lately.

Me-"Ok, thanks for helping me"

Person-"You're more than welcome"

WTF is more than welcome? Just say you're welcome, I dont need to be more than that! :violin:

Jack these are the things that will drive you nuts when you quit smoking so be prepared for what you have to look forward to. :142crying

Should have posted in the most annoying phraze thread but Im too lazy to find it. :fingerc:

It's a Service standard.

I worked in a five diamond hotel and "more than welcome" and "it's my pleasure" we acceptable closings to conservations.

Plain saluations like "your welcome" and "thanks" were unacceptable.

FYI: If any of you are Chick-fl-a customers they have just adopted these standards in thier resturants. When you drive thru and pick up your food the person will reply "it's my pleasure" when you say thanks.

I guess it's eluding to the fact that the individual saying the remark is implying that you are not only welcome for the situation at hand but also encouraged to ask for additional assistance.

As in "overstaying one's welcome": If someone is "More than Welcome" they would have a longer period of grace than a regular individual.

I would be ok with

"youre very welcome"
"youre welcome it was my pleasure"

Every time I have heard it, it has been after an "argument" or disagreement over something, it ends up Im right, and then you get the condesending niceness that you KNOW isnt sincere, then I always get youre more than welcome. :soapbox:

Agent,

Maybe in these situations you have "overstayed your welcome"? If this is true, then you are truly "more than welcome".

Interesting company.

Chick-fli-a does not open on Sundays. They still accept church bulletins for a discount (even though it might not be posted). They also pay more than min. wage for a fastfood job.

You *should* be happy. That place sucks.

And their 'chicken and egg' sandwich? There's something kind of disgusting about that.

Man, Jack, it truly is THE BEST chicken sandwich in the industry. Just try one, you will be hooked. You might need a vice when you quit smoking. :nono:
