Five of us heading out for the Final Four.

Been there enough, but never really scouted out the books too much.

The guys are looking for more along the lines of a table, rather than sitting in a row of chairs.

(Sounds to me like they want more of a bar setting, but want the ability to make bets, obviously.)

Anyone?

I'm guessing we might be better off hopping a cab to a place like Green Valley Ranch, or maybe something else out in the "sticks".

What do you think?

Well, to me........They're games like any other.

I could watch them from the fukking room!

Shit, it would be a helluva lot more comfy, I am sure of that! You can still hit the book at halftime, and make another bet, right?

i would be at a bar (non smoking, of course) and my 2nd choice would be the room.

I think that's what they're gearing for. If we can find a place to watch, and still get a bet down...that would be the best.

I always like sitting at the bar that is butted up against the sportsbook. You would still need to be there EARLY. That way, you have a quick jump to the betting line, you can socialize with buddies, AND you get to play video poker! What a trio!

MJ - read through the link and I must say that I agree with Nolan in saying that the Venetian was eager to give out drinks.

Nobody on here has any advice for this weekend, do they? We will be there for Thurs through Sun and figure that we have a shot at getting a seat or two on Thurs night but understand that Fri. and Sat. night are going to be really tough. Is there anything you can do besides getting there as early as possible to secure a few seats? Thanks again for any help you guys can offer.

Venetian has always been good to me. Was up there for NBA finals heat vs pistons and was easy to find seats and get bets in while having tons of drinks. Comfortable as can be as well too.

Venetian is o.k. but just the free drink thing and March Madness, well, I wouldnt plan on going based on that alone.

Not too bad an idea to take off from the Strip and head out to a more remote / less crowded venue.

As for the strip Id rule out Bellagio Caesars NYNY and MGM. Paris has a nice bar that juts up to the book. Ive had good luck there in the past and they have Stella Artois. Theres always Hard Rock for the candy...

Have fun.

Mandalay Bay is money if you get there early. Had a crew out there for last year's final four and one of us went down to Mandalay early and got a table and saved it for us. They've got a great projection screen set-up and the tables provide a great view, IF you get there early and get one up against the railing. People start to flood the sportsbook about an hour before gametime and if you're at one of the tables off the railing people will flat-out stand right in front of your view. You'll need to get there probably 4.5 to 5 hours prior to gametime to get a good table. If there's two of you, one can hold the table while the other hits the tables and then take turns.
Good luck whatever you do.

The hard rock may have eye candy, but their sportsbook is about the size of my bedroom.
