Geeze!!! ...just finished lunch and really fighting the urge. Why is this the most difficult time of the day for me!?!?! :scared ...even dinnertime is not as bad as lunch for some reason. After dinner last night, i didn't even have the first craving and didn't chew any gum, but about 1:00 everyday I am climbing the fawking walls.... :com:

On another note, I am certainly eating more and will probably put on a few pounds, but that's not a problem for me...actually, most that know me would say I could use a few extra pounds. LOL

...right now I'm chewing gum like a madman and thought I'd drop in and check out this thread to occupy me until the gum kicks in. LOL

Hope everyone is still fighting the good fight....

Remember.... :nono: SMOKING!

...and to clarify to myself....

I AM NOT A SMOKER!!! :)

I have been trying to quit without the use of nicotine patches or guma and today (Day 3) is the most difficult so far. I think I am going to the drug store at lunch and pick up some of that gum.
Picked up the Nicorette gum at lunchtime and it tastes like shit!

It has helped with the cravings though so I will probably use it sparingly.

Judge,

...don't remember anyone saying that it tastes good. :142smilie

...but if it helps prevent you from picking up that first cigg, then it's doing it's job, right? Plus, if it tastes good, you might be more prone to become addicted to the gum. LOL :mj07:

Hang in there, chief! :)

Feeling much better than this morning and no urges since then.

I feel a bit of chest pains. Centre of chest and a little off to the left. Anyone else?

It's been about 60 hours and we're still hanging tough. We're dealing with the "grumpies" and going cold turkey. Ate dinner Monday night in the "non-smoking" section for the first time!

I've been out on medical leave and will be returning to my job with 1+ hr. commute on Monday. I hope the week of abstinence will help keep me on track! I am interviewing for jobs with an organization with a no-tobacco policy. I know that they drug test but don't know if nicotene is one of the substances they look for. Here's hoping that I get hired because it will mean the end of commuting and that's the one trigger I'm worrying about.

Everyone's doing great!!!! Thanks to all for the support and encouragement!

I applaud you guys. I quit back in October cold turkey - you're in the middle of the toughest part - it will be over soon. You can do it.

Kidding? About my chest pains? well, NO! It passed now but it still does feel a little tender. Maybe cause I was coughing earlier today? Breathing is still much easier than Sunday but.. if I push it down with my fingers.. I feel a little discomfort

Just signed up. Win a car if you stop smoking..

WELCOME TO DAY #3 GUYS/GALS!!!!

Where's Bahama Mama? Hope she is still smoke free. :D

Just got home from a mgmt class. Traffic was horrific in Downtown Tampa. Doing lots of construction and it took me 1 1/2 hours to get home. Did not smoke!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!

Even stopped for a 7-11 coffee. It always seems weak so no cravings. A Starbucks coffee, now that will be a challange.

Still clearing the throat a lot. Feel good today!

Need to start dinner. As always and until day #4,

GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!!!!

Remember: :nono: SMOKING!!!!!

I AM A NON SMOKER!!!!!!!!

ps: Donna says tomorrow. We will see.

I found a pretty neat little program at
http://www.silkquit.org

It lets you track your time of "smobriety", money saved, # of cigarettes not smoked and life time saved. You can even keep this on your toolbar for easy reference and reinforcement! :)

My current statistics:

Smober Time: 2D 13h 17s
Amount Saved: $5.97
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50
Life Saved: 4h 10 min

chuckdman: If you're experiencing chest pains left of center, I don't think it's a typical side effect of nicotene withdrawal. If you're still having them you should call your doctor and ask his/her advice.

I booked the appointment for Monday. It seemed to happen after my second gum today. Maybe it was the stress plus the 2 gums. I was really pissed this morning with all the run around I was getting while I had a manager over my desk looking at my every move. I had to tell her to go cause she was getting me nervous and she understood. :SIB

My doc said if I push it down and it still hurts a little then its a good thing. He said it could be all the strain that my lungs, heart, throat have/are going though when i'm coughing. I had brocitis a few weeks back as well so maybe its just clearing itself out. When I seen the doc a 2 weeks ago he said my throat looks like its was a little swollen. We'll see what the doc says. It's ok now and felt fine yesterday.

I AM NOT A SMOKER!

Till tonight! Be good and play safe!

hey non smokers! some great inspiration as dumb as it sounds! sit in the smoking section at a bingo hall, all the senior smokers and second hand smoke (that is far worse than anything you will ever experience) will be an inspiration to never smoke again.

Yeah Tom, I'm still smoke/gum/patch free, but it still sucks, too :(

This was only day 2 for me, and i believe i had food in my mouth the entire time i was awake (think that makes is time to go to SLEEP now) :(

not sure what my choice will be if the cravings aren't gone within 3 more days.

DONNA....... time for you to try again!!!!

thanks

Rock2,

I'll make a call tomorrow and post in Day 4 when I find out a little more info on the laser treatment...

Know a guy (old Boss) in OKC, OK had it done first of this year, smoke free now and he was a very heavy smoker. He tried to have a brother of his (good friend of mine) do it,...it was a little to late...died the day he was to go in for the procedure, couldn't breathe, 52 years young. He had an air purifier in his living and bedroom, and an air breather in the kitchen and bedroom as well. Inhalers and steroids to open up breathing passages. I talked to him on the phone 3 days before he passed, I could hear the breather in the background as well as the flick of a lighter, lighting up a cig.....He wasn't able to say 'goodbye' to me that night, he couldn't catch his breath, between coughs and hacks all he said was 'I need to go'...hack, hack hack,....'OK, ****, we'll talk again soon'.....click

I'm not planning on hooking up with my good buddy anytime soon.

Water tastes better than a Winston could....

I walked a mile today instead of smoking a Camel...and I never smoked Camels...

Kool is not cool...

I was the Marlboro Man...

Light cigarettes....WHAT a FUGGIN' JOKE.....Fleecing of a part of America....

A pack of generic cigs now gets me a gallon of gas
and CHANGE at some places

3 packs for a $1.00 is the lowest price I remember for cigs, $6.00 for a single pack was the most I paid one time (I was a carton buyer)

Boy u got that right

I played in a poker tourney at the local Moose Club last month and the whole god awful place smelled like a huge ashtray as soon as I walk in the building. Real funny thing was they had 3 ashtrays on every poker table, I have not seen anything like that since that 70's. Had to burn my clothes after I left that place.

Hang Tight Guys U will make it!!:)
