Hey everybody,

In the immortal words of Balki Bartokomous, I am going to Veeeeeeeegaaaaaaaaaas in a couple of weeks. Oh come on, I can't be the only who used to watch Perfect Strangers. Anyway, I used to go all the time when I lived in CA but since I moved up to Washington it's been about 8 years since I've been back. For all I know the Stardust is still a hoppin' joint and I might run into Robert Deniro, Sharon Stone and/or Joe Pesci who may or may not put my head in a vise. I'm hoping he doesn't, but you never know with that weasel-faced bastard.

I will probably be playing a lot of low-limit hold 'em, mostly $3-$6 or $4-$8 I imagine. I will also play a little blackjack and/or roulette too, but just for fun. And lastly, even though I've taken more bad beats than Tina Turner recently, I may find myself in a sportsbook or two. So here's my question... can anyone recommend a casino that has a good poker room and sportsbook? How about restaurants? Discounts/deals? The last time I went to Vegas you could still get those ridiculous $1.99 buffets, but I hear those are long gone. Sucks for me. I was a big fan of eating so much bacon that my arteries clogged on the spot.

Last question... is anyone familiar with Caesars? That's where I'll be staying but I've never stayed there before. I was looking for a spot that was right in the middle of the strip and where I most likely wouldn't catch scabes, and that one seemed to fit the bill.

Thanks in advance for your help guys. I appreciate it.

Thanks Steve. I'm looking forward to it. Everything I've seen of Caesars on the Net looks great.

I noticed this thread at lasvegastalk discussing what rooms to get/avoid at Caesars.

For bargains, always check the latest Top Ten Values from the Las Vegas Advisor.

After you get to Caesars, stroll across the Strip to Imperial Palace and take escalators upstairs to sportsbook. Near the bar is big supply of latest free tourist mags "Showbiz" and "What's On". These are filled with info/prices on buffets, deals and coupons. Always has a coupon for free visit to IP's car collection (tho not what it used to be) and $12 steak/lobster dinner at cafe in Stardust (if crowded ask for counter seat--almost always available)

The food court at Caesars, the one between the casino and Forum Shops, has surprisingly good food/prices for the location.

the book "American Casino Guide" has terrific collection of coupons for the $17 price. Available at most large bookstores, or even cheaper from here.
