Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
Wednesday night severly sprained my left ankle kurby
Iced till it was frozen, took 800mg of Ibuprofen right when it happened. Fell asleep with ice on it that night. Yesterday morning it looked pretty good. I wrapped it with ace bandage, and did pretty good throughout the day yesterday. Took of the Ace bandage this last night before bed, iced again, and woke up this morning with a balloon  attached to my calf...............

Can hardly walk, where to I go from here?

By "did pretty good throughout the day" do you mean that you walked on it a bit without crutches? Did you keep it elevated throughout the day? Key recommendations, in addition to ice, for a sprained ankle are rest and elevation (even while sleeping) for the first few days to reduce swelling. If the swelling is extreme at this point, you should probably see a doctor.

Here's a link you might find of interest. I hope you're feeling better soon. A sprain is even a bigger bitch than me!

as much rest as possible, elevation, and ice (never heat).

Also try this exercise. Sit down on the couch and hold your bad foot out. Imagine that your foot is a pencil and your big toe is the pencil lead. "Write" the alphabet in the air. Do 2 sets of this 3 times a day. IMHO, this breaks up the monotony of the normal boring exercises, and it will help.

My wife came down stairs and watched me from L to Z. She shook her head and said get my ass upstairs and Monday she is calling for counseling. :scared :sadwave:

I had the same thing happened last august, ended up tearing a ligament in the outside of my ankle. Had an air cast on for about a week on top of doing excercises above, but I went to the clinic right after it happened. Also had an xray to make sure nothing was broken.

Best thing is to go to an ortho specalist if you can, the clinic people didn't have a clue what was going on really, they simply knew I didn't break anything and the one good thing is they gave me some vicodin!

Jack, I got this for you from dictionary.com since I know you're not familiar with EXERCISE:Active bodily exertion performed to develop or maintain fitness.

Franky, hope that ankle starts feeling better. If you have a slow weekend, keep it elevated as much as possible. Sounds like you messed it up in a bad, bad way!! If you have a lot of pain doing those exercises, lay off. Too bad you're not around here, or I could do some retrograde massage on the foot and really help it out. You ever wonder how the athletes recover from sprained ankles so fast?? Trainers working on them hands on about 6-8 hours a day. working that edema up the leg can really get it healed up so much faster.

Franky,

I agree with the boys on this one. you need an x-ray. you could have torn something. they would have at least given you crutches and had you keep off it for a few days while telling you to elevate, rest, and ice it. the pain killers would have come in handy also.
sorry to hear about your problem, hope you're back to normal soon. be careful about falling asleep with ice on it, not a good thing...
