Axl: Hilfiger 'Just Kept Smacking Me'

05/20/2006 12:17 PM, AP
Verena Dobnik

It was a one-two encounter between Axl Rose and Tommy Hilfiger. The rocker and designer capped a Thursday evening out at a new club called The Plumm in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood with midnight fisticuffs.

"There was an issue between the two of them," Plumm owner Noel Ashman told The Associated Press.

The scuffle reportedly started after the Guns N' Roses front man moved the drink of Hilfiger's girlfriend, Dee Ocleppo.

"I moved his girlfriend's drink so it wouldn't spill," Rose told the Los Angeles radio station KROQ on Friday. "It was the most surreal thing, I think, that's ever happened to me in my life."

According to the 44-year-old singer, Hilfiger, 55, smacked him in the arm and told him to put the drink back.

"He just kept smacking me," Rose said.

Attempts to reach Hilfiger or a representative were not immediately successful.

Rose was there to play a surprise set for "Rent" actress Rosario Dawson for her 27th birthday party.

At the time of the dustup, The Plumm was packed with a celebrity crowd including Lenny Kravitz, Mickey Rourke, Kid Rock, Peter Beard, Molly Simms, Wentworth Miller, Ann Dexter Jones, Lydia Hearst and Damon Dash.

Rose did perform, and dedicated the song "You're Crazy" to "my good friend Tommy Hilfiger."

I won't be much longer before Axl and Slash and the rest get back together for at least a tour, especially if this is what Axl is doing for cash these days.

Heroin is expensive you know.

On a side note I heard "Chinese Democracy" will actually be released early next year. We've heard it before, but if it does come out an flop as expected then a reunion tour almost has to happen.

I will pay any price and fly anywhere to see the first show, you can quote me on that.

Newest reports say september or so. we'll see.

i've downloaded a couple tracks that were leaked. sounds pretty good to me.

slash has already heard the album he said in an interview. i looked for the article again, but couldn't find it. Admittedly he was surprised by the album and said it was very very good. i was shocked by that.

as for the reunion tour if there ever is one, i'll be right there with ya.

Former Guns N? Roses Guitarist Slash, has once again spoke about his former bands long awaited Chinese Democracy album. Speaking to UK Radio Station Virgin, Slash confirmed that the album was finished and that it would be released next Month (March) and that a very official source has already heard it.
Slash also added - "Yeah its going to happen, I've been made aware it's been heard. I'm really excited, it's been a long time waiting to see what the next step around the corner was going to be for him (Axl), we know where everybody else is, but we were wondering what he was going to be doing. It's coming out in March and apparently it sounds great."

BDB, it has to happen someday. Too many people stand to make too much money for it not to happen.

If the Eagles could do it G-N-FN-R can.

the same has been said for The Police...it'll be a cold day...
