Off to Texas tomr. morning.Have a wedding..

31 years ago I took a tall Paris,Texas girl out of the Lone Star State and married her in NY.
On Saturday, after 31 years, Texas gets a girl back. My daughter. I guess thats what happens in life. You take someone away and then return someone else years later.
On Saturday my wife and I will give my daughter away to a Texan from Corpus Christi in Austin.I have over 160 people coming to the wedding with 25 New Yorkers making the trip down.
Texas weddings are a little different then weddings up here in the east. When my daughter got engaged last yr and they started planning the wedding I demanded it take place in NY. Since I'm paying for....etc.etc. But in just 60 seconds I had lost.Didn't even win for a minut. "dad,I've been teaching in Austin for 3 yrs, another 4 at UT,moms whole family lives in Texas,ahhh..OK you guys win..
The wedding is at a barb-q place called The Salt Lick just outside of Austin. You Texans I'm sure have heard of it.It's all you can eat, brisket, ribs, sausage, and chicken. My boys from NY have never seen something like this. And for the 1st time there is no pasta dish.We are all used to a small dish of zita, linguine, etc. The cultures will clash.... But no one will complain once they start on the ribs.

My wife and I have taken dance lessons at the local Comm college since January. A X-mas gift my 4 kids payed for and registered us.I wasn't to crazy about dance lessons. esp ballroom, waltz, rhumba, chacha, tango, etc. My 3 daughters thought that dad needed to get his "motown" moves out of his repetiore. The said "no skate a la Smokey Robinson,or funky chicken". These kids today have no respect.
So for the past 14 weeks we have gone to the dance lessons.I cannot believe I'm saying this but I've had a blast. There were 15 other couples just like us.. Well..My wife and I have become very good.We have a routine down that will blow away everyone in the Salt Lick.We pretend to practice at home and look bad so my youngest daughter instant messages her siblings.."they are sooo bad...and dad thinks he's good...oh my god....
But are the 160 people going to be shocked..After I dance with my daughter and my son-in-law dances with his mother...I'm having the DJ[who of course I'm paying also} play a CD for my wife and me...Have you guys seen Dancing with the Stars..well it s going to be Dancing with the Boxes. I actually start the dance 10 feet from my wife.I can't believe I'm doing this but I'm going to have someone tape us. I know I will need a few drinks before to lossen me up..I'll also tape my kids reacting to our dance.I know all 4 will be putting there hands over there eyes saying" oh my god.."
But I want to show them there money was well spent..
Gotta run and pack.Have a safe Memorial Day weekend. Talked to Herb the other day. His TV is great...he's still trying to figure out where all these "angels" came from...
Will report on the wedding when I get back next week...have to work on some dance steps.." 1-2-3 quick..1-2-3 quick

Box,

Was at the Salt lick last weekend. Amazing to say the least. Ask for the Habanero BBQ sauce. Much better than the regular....not as sweet.

If you have never been to Austin, you won't get it until you gt here, but one of te best places around, although as a Texas boy, I'm sure you know.

Congrats.

Box congrats and Best Wishes to the Bride and Groom.

I took lessons also for my 2 daughters weddings so as not to embarrass them LOL, but did not get anywhere as good as you have.

So give him hell on the dance floor and make them stand up and cheer.

Have a great day.
