i got back a few hours ago....& i'm dead tired. not used to having 6 or so drinks at a sitting anymore...but with a little practice i think that i can get back into "fighting shape".
i don't know if anybody is interested in my trip but here goes....
we arrived friday at the mgm at about 11:30am & they let us have an early check-in. we had a great room with a great view of the strip but had a few problems with the room. the a/c wasn't working too well & in a place where the temp. averages around 105, a/c is a must. the safe in the room & one night table lamp wasn't working either. called guest services & was assured that the problems would be taken care of & was told that we didn't have to wait around to have problems fixed.
we headed out around 12:30 pm to meet everybody for lunch. normally we would have walked to the aladdin, but since it was so hot we took a cab. the cabdriver copped an attitude when we told him where we were going.i knew he didn't like the short fare, but i asked him anyway a few times if there was a problem but he didn't answer me. the fare was $4.85 & i threw $6 towards the front seat & told him his attitude cost him a bigger tip...it continues to amaze me how people in the service industry don't know how to deal with the public....but that's their problem.
we arrived at max's about 12:50 pm & thought that we were the first. but ms. dee came over & introduced herself to us.a very nice & friendly woman. my wife (suzanne) & i learned that max's was having a some sought of special....3 drinks for the price of one...but we also learned that the bartenders don't know how to add. so i had the first of 5 cap't. morgan's & coke & my wife had the first of 4 martini's....for the price of one.
a few minutes later kneifl & his friend alex arrived & introduced us to ctownguy who was sitting there for about the same amount of time that we were there. ctown was one of the people that i never met & was looking forward to meeting. all i can say about ct is that he is truly a great guy..very friendly, with a good sense of humor, & was very nice to drive suzanne & i to different hotels a few times. this guy knows vegas inside & out.
a little later the others started arriving & i finally had a chance to meet dtb & his lovely wife, li, who is very friendly & out going. dtb was another poster that i was looking forward in meeting & was disappointed that i didn't get a chance to talk more with him since he was leaving the next day & we weren't seated near each other. hopefully i will get another chance of meeting up with dtb.i also met up with kosar, who is one of my favorite people at this forum...this guy always has a smile on his face & seems to enjoy himself where ever he is.
the lunch at max's was very lively & friendly...it's amazing what liquor does (lol). i don't know if the waiter was trying to add to the tab, but after my 5 cap't. mprgans, he brought me a pina colada & a tom collins...& showing no shame i drank those also.
after lunch me, the wife, ct, & terryray headed up to jack & kosar's suite where we had a few more drinks (don't remember what they were). we had a great time there also talking about the people on the site & other gambling sites. after a few hours (it was about 6pm), ctown drove us back to our room where we found out nothing was fixed, which pissed me off. after a few drinks who wants to hassle with hotel employees. but i called the front desk anyway & within a 1/2 hour maintenance came up to fix the a/c, safe, & lamp...or so i thought. he told us that all the a/c needed was a new filter, but housekeeping handled that. he also said that security handles the room safes & that he would come back & fix the lamp.he also told us that we didn't need to be in the room to have everything fixed. at about 9pm we headed down to the casino & came back to the room about 1 am & found out again that nothing was repaired. so i called down to the front desk & the clerk told me by checking the computer he saw that the maintenance man did not refer the a/c to housekeeping, or security for the safe, & even forgot to come back to fix the lamp.a half hour after yelling at the desk clerk about how poor their service is, housekeeping & security did their thing.at this point i didn't care anymore about the lamp so i dropped the issue with that.
the next day me & the wife hung around the pool & i continued drinking tom collins'(3) until we were ready to go to dinner at the tillerman restaurant. there i decided that i would only stick to one drink & had 3 cap't.morgans & coke.
before dinner, at the bar area i heard about kneifl's clothes being soaked by the overflowing of the toilet bowl. when kneifl arrived & told us what happened, i got to admit i was impressed with his positive attitude. most people would have been pissed but he turned a negative situation into a positive situation & kept his cool. but looking at it now, i'm not surprised by kneifl's attitude.in the few times that i have met him he always seemed to have a smile on his face & always seemed positive.
at dinner i got to talk more to kneifl's friend, alex....also very friendly & spoke to senor capper, who has been one of my favorite posters here & didn't see him at the last super bowl party.
i also got to talk more to terryray, who seems to know about everything & to the judge, who seems to know his college sports & nba. 2 quality guys....another person i got to speak to was fletcher's wife, who i found to be very warm & friendly.
as far as the tillerman goes...jack couldn't have picked a better place. we had a private room & the food & service was top notch.a big thank you goes out to scotty & bet jamaica for their huge generosity & again proving that there are some books that have class.
sunday my wife & i layed around the pool area for most of the day & at night we headed over to the mirage. we had dinner at a restaurant called kokomos, where i ate a great veal chop & my wife had sea bass. after dinner we went to see "love" produced by cirque de solel...where the performers danced & did acrobatics to the beatles music. living most of my life in nyc, i saw some great theater & have been to 4 other cirque shows, but i have to say that this performance was by far the best show that i have ever seen. i usually get bored very easily & can't wait for shows to end, but not this show...i hoped it never ended. it's been 40 years since the beatles retired, this show reminded me that the beatles was & is the greatest rock band of all time.
i usually go to vegas twice a year & i have to say that this was probably my most favorite trip there.
a big thank you goes out to jack for making most of this possible.in my book jack is a quality person.
and also a big thanks goes to everybody there who made my wife & i feel at ease....& thanks to all of those who laughed at my sick humor.
