for those of you with money locked up in there:

source, igamingnews.com

Embattled sports betting company BETonSPORTS (BoS) told its employees today that it would be shutting down its Costa Rican and Antiguan offices.

Rumors of a shut down, perpetuated mostly by online tabloids, have spread like wild fire since Monday. A company spokesperson today confirmed that BoS upper management terminated approximately 800 employees this afternoon, although he could not confirm the effective date.

The company's Web site, BETonSPORTS.com, has been non-operational since July
19 when it shut it down in partial compliance with the temporary restraining order issued by the United States Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Missouri. The TRO has since been extended until Aug 14. when another TRO hearing is scheduled.

One major issue that remains unanswered is whether or not and when BoS customers will get their money back. The TRO orders the company to return all money to U.S. account holders, but thus far BoS has failed to do so.

U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway said the U.S. government has every right to seize the money if BoS does not return it.

"In all kinds of crimes we forfeit money that someone has paid," she said.

A BoS executive told the Associated Press that the company is working on returning deposits and pending wagers.

"Customers will get their money," the executive said, adding that because of the TRO, some payment processors have stopped doing business with BoS, causing them to have no way to transfer the bulk of the money to gamblers.

"We are in a difficult position," the executive said.

The BoS spokesman said the company would release an official statement on Friday morning including information on the closing date and the status of U.S. accounts.

They've given me deadline after deadline after deadline and every one of them was bullshit, so I'm not holding my breath on this.

I just read all the BetonSports info...WHAT SPORTSBOOKS WERE CLOSED ALONG WITH BOS???? And why did this happen? Should I worry about other books in Costa Rica being NEXT? Im kinda worried, why did this happen to BOS? Stricly because of online gambling? I really need to know whats going on, especially before football season when I maek a big deposit...I dont wanna deposit in a book and it be the next one to be closed because of a US indictment...So what is going on here, are all books going to end up being prosecuted and closed? or did BOS do something illegal OTHER than run a online sportsbetting site???? very confused here...dont feel comportable depositing $2k for football if something like this is gonna happen...could it happen to Nine.com, or betjamaic/olympic>>>

Yes, you should be worried. I am worried too. Everyone says don't worry. But that is what they said before BOS closed. I am in the same boat you are. I am really scared to put money with anyone.

BoS was in trouble from YEARS ago and has nothing to do with other sportsbooks. the only concern at this point is if the internet gambling bill goes through senate and it's a long shot that it will. i have a lot at stake and i'm not that worried about it. time will tell.

if you're worried about your deposit money, forget about bonuses and move your money in and out weekly or daily and pay the fees associated with deposits and withdrawals.

they went after BoS becaise of Gary Kaplan and they have been after him since the 90's. it has nothing to do with other sportsbooks.

and, if the gambling bill does go through, it will not shut down internet gambling, period. it will only make it tougher to send and receive money but there will be other alternatives available if that happens.

relax.

You are right Jack.

Maybe I am overreacting a bit, but this whole thing just got me nervous.

I am going to take your advice and relax, but I do plan on taking more frequent withdrawals, and I am not going to leave that much in each account at one time.

It might not be neccesary to do all of that, but at this point in time I just don't feel comfortable leaving large amounts with the books.

Everything you say makes perfect sense, and I hope you are right about all of it............I just want to be on the safe side.

As you said, hopefully the government just had a hard on for this guy from BOS, and they will leave the other books alone.

All we can do is hope that is the case.

just don't play at newer books for bonuses or any book that has a bed reputation and you will be fine. don't bonus whore and play at books with catchy phrases and stupid promotional girls.

play at the established places and hope favorites don't cover every week in the nfl like last year and every combination of teasers hit. then you have to worry about the smaller books regardless of legislation.

do like you said and keep w'drawing to neteller. if it costs you a little more for sanity, so be it.

What happens if/when they go after Neteller? It won't help to keep the majority of your roll in there if they are subject to the same from DoJ.

That's a good question Jack. I don't know that they are doing anything illegal or if that really matters.

They are transfering funds used in an illegal act from players in the U.S. and then back to players in the U.S. Don't know how illegal this is but the DoJ doesn't seem to need much reason to go after them.

In addition, they don't necessarily need to go after Neteller. They could freeze the accounts of those that are thought to have engaged in the illegal act through them.

Don't claim to have any special insight into this situation. Purely speculation at this point, but anything is possible if the U.S. decides to take this to the next level.

That is a good point. I didn't even think of all that.

They very well could go after neteller too.

I agree with Jack, that I don't really see what they are doing that is illegal, but then again, it seems like this wonderful government of ours can do whatever the hell they want.

This could really become a bad situation no matter how you slice it.
