Well ya hit fifty...which I did 9 years ago, and ya start getting pressure.......from your family Doc.
to get the dreaded............... colonoscopy test:scared ....
So I put it off and cancelled appointments etc. and today after years of avoidance I finally did it.
What a simple procedure...and if I had known..I would have done it much earlier...It is apparently an important one and I'm glad I finally did it.. no more for 5 to 10 years.
So, how about "old farts" ya had yours yet??

bear.....I could never and still can't understand why people get so up in arms about getting something done that can possibly save them all kinds of problems in the future. 2 of my younger brothers are afraid to go check their prostate checked...."I'm not letting no doctor put his finger up my ass":dizzy: ....My answer to that is "I guess you won't mind allowing the doctor and his nurse to probe your rear-end when they do discover you have deveopled prostate cancer. And they'll be probing you while your legs are up in the stirrups"...:com: My father didn't go either and when they did discover it it was to late and it ended up travelling to his brain....it was horrible. If my wife didn't go for the colonoscopy she would either be receiving treatment now or ? The specialist didn't think she needed it done because her last was three years prior. But since she was so sick I insisted for her to do it and she had said "it's a good thing we did or we would have had problems". She keeps develping polyps and this time she has to drink a double take of that good stuff. She has to take it for two days because her last testing they couldn't see ??? behind somewhere. Don't know you but glad you come on to tell people how easy it was ....

Well,
I gotta laugh..at how easy and quick it was.....I have 1 brother who needs to get it done every 2 years (colitis) another who refuses all checkups , and another who has a good friend who just lost her sister to a very treatable cancer (colon...if they find it in time) well, he told me that story and I figured I better get it done........Very glad I did and I would have done it sooner if I knew how easy it was.....1 night of clear liquids, popsickles and the shits and 25 minutes the next day (that you are not even aware of with sleep juice) Get the report and then someone to take ya home.. EASY

And all this time I thought you were a fairly educated guy..... do you really think that women don't have colons? If you have a colon you can get cancer. Duh????????

I guess I've just done it three times for the anal action.... damned shame I was anesthesized and missed it! If only my grandmother had been into it; she might have been with us a little longer.

Just bs'ing VA

put your weapons down

gf been a nurse for years, if I need the clinical chatter on just about anything, I can shoot the shiit with her over a beer (or my 2 neighbors are nurses, sisters a pharmacist, 7 of my friends are quite active in the gambling community, and I have a real deal gang banger working for me)

or I can ask Freeze here, if he can answer me straight without an agenda

and I'm definitely not educated

the only educated cat in this dwelling went to North Carolina and is distinguished enough to tell a fellow poster to eat shiit (or Pony Tail wanting to physically abuse me)

guess his parents did well bringing him along.....not

figure I'll learn how to do that through osmosis

had no intention of ryling (sp) up anybody in such a SERIOUS thread

talk to you later

ahhhhh..I have put it off..did have a uroligist a few yrs back stick his finger ahhh.. don't even like talking about it.
what do they do in a colonscopy. is that the one where you drink the chalk shake. I'll gag on that. I know I'm making excuses...but
I'll do it. I avoid asking my wife about it because she's always on my case. She is nurse too.
Describe what they do. I'll schedule one in the next few weeks.
my wife always gets upset during football and b-ball season about me posting .I'll get some brownie points telling her some guy named 'bear' is making me have a colonscopy...I know I'm really stupid not having one.
Thanks for the "push"..
How is everything in Conn? did the stags get any good recruits. Marist just got Cuses gd McClosky who transferred.
hope you had a nice summer.School starts in 2 weeks..ahhh

Yep had it done about 4 yrs ago and I am due next year.

It was alot easier than I thought but still a little uncomfortable. Nothing to sweat about though.

GET IT DONE, compared to what you could be in for if you don't there is no choice.

My poor father in law, may he Rest in Peace, put it off for years because he was so heavy he was embarrassed and just lazy and never got one.

He died of colon cancer over 10 years ago and didn't get to see his 2 granddaughters weddings.

A loss that could have been prevented.

Ageecee...no need unless there are symptoms that worry you ...then tell Doc and let him/her advise...50+ is the usual time to start checking but it does occur in younger...

Hey Box.......
Still got that youthful enthusiasm with school getting ready to start..That's great! I miss it!
Now, regarding the colonoscopy.....Schedule it early....8 AM..
Day before....small breakfast...then only clear liquids till midnight after that nothing ..popsickles, broth etc. are ok but nothing red or purple
4 pm...Fleet products induce the elimination process which lasts for 4 or 5 hours....(thats the worst of it)
C day......go to the office ...get hooked up to IV, lie down..small talk .......OK
roll over on your side ...then wake up ..its over!!
Talk to Doc...look at pictures and then go home..Total time for prep, procedure, recovery, talk
1 hour..............No pain at all for me...a little groggy after but not for long..Very easy..Get it done Box!

Regarding Fairfield U..Ed Cooley signed a few nice recruits..the best looks to be Devin Johnson from Va. 6'3" 18ppg 10 reb 5 assists and 3 steals...1st team all metro and POY.... Hey Box..Have a great year!

I had this done as a 50th birthday for myself after returning from Costa Rica last May. Have to say that I was expecting a little more.

To everyone thinking about it....It is absouletly nothing to it....repeating myself and others, the worst is preparing yourself for it....the drink. Also having it done the 1st time you also have to prepare for the mental part of having it done.

Above the Clouds....
Had it done when I turned 50. Like everyone says not that bad. You're in dreamland before it starts and really can't remember much. I'm good for ten years. Doc said no beer for 24 hours but what the hell I deserved it so stopped and got a 12 pack and a pizza. Best damn pizza and beer I ever had.
