There are also a lot of questions on the SC side of the ball. i think defensively they will be pretty good, but maybe not good enough to play with the upper echelon in the SEC. There are some holes to fill at DL and LB. The will be mid to back of the pack in terms of ranked D's in the SEC. Offensively they have some nice players - Rice, Boyd and even B. Mitchell is OK. The o-line is a big question mark, but expected to be better than last years group. I think they will be efiicient enough to give B Mitchell time to throw. On paper they look alot better than MSU, but as we know they play on grass. IMHO i think SC covers by the slimmest of margins. GL2A

Yup...I'm on SCAR too!! Good to hear your buddy's comments. They should take this by atleast 10+! Probably close early with the hype of a new season, but Spurrier will have his team ready for this road game!

Gotta believe that Spurrier will open it up wide open. State is horrible and losing Norwood will only hurt.

I think the Cocks win this one easy

Going to go against the grain on this one. First off, dont get me wrong. State SUCKS. But Im thinking its a low scoring affair. States D looks to be decent this year. The unders been pounded down 4-5 points already. More money going on SC and the line moving in States favor. Im taking State +7
State homegames on ESPN especially openers means little, but do mean something. Example: covering last year aginst Georgia on a Thurs night ESPN game. And Spurrier had large trouble winning at State with his Fl. team, granted it could be different with the SC team.
GL eitherway, definatly not a top play this weekend with plenty of others out there.
...Plus I could be biased because I do go to State.

Careful, MSU's defense is very good. I think SC will win this game but don't overlook a very tough MSU defense. They quietly had one of the better D's in the SEC last year and look more improved this year

maybe just a little :SIB

interesting trend here:

South Carolina is 9-2 SU in its last 11 season openers but only 2-7-1 ATS.

SC is also 5-10 ATS vs. SEC West teams over the last 5 years. I guess these kind of go out the window with the ole ball coach running the show now instead of the OLD ball coach (Holtz).

Haven't looked into this game too much yet but I will be looking for reasons to back the bulldogs.

Home dog conference game with the public heavy on the road favorite is a recipe I like for backing Miss. St altho I know it will be hard to find reasons to do so.

Without knowing all of the numbers, just glancing at it, I think part of that is a product of them playing out of conference stiffs to open the year and having huge lines to cover. Doubt many of the lines were under a td. Very interesting stat though, glad you shared.

Thinking this is the classic situation that used to get me in trouble. If this was a Saturday during a full slate I'd pass on it pretty quickly, knowing there are much softer lines to be found. But since it's opening night, and there aren't many betting options I'd force a play.

That's my take on this one but good luck to all with whatever you decide to do.
