Spent yesterday afternoon rockin' and rollin' with the Twins winning the division - a truly special event, the way it unfolded. I bought playoff tickets a couple weeks ago, looking forward to whatever could happen, hoping for a really fun night or two of playoff action, homer hankies, expensive beers, etc. And then, they grab the division, getting at least the first two games at home...and I can't wait for what the Dome will be like with Santana on the hill, happy hour before, going crazy.
Then we find out that BOTH the first two playoff games are AT FRICKING NOON on Tuesday and Wednesday. BOTH games!!! Not surprising, both Yankee fricking games are at night, all three other games are afternoon games, but the other two are later in the day.
I know why it is done, but it just sucks. I think I will be able to make both games, but many people can't. It sure will make the rest of my work week awful, and the noon start sure takes the wind out of any real kind of fun. And for Oakland? That's a 10:00 am game, essentially for them, twice? How fair is that?
Why can't they at least have one of the two games - especially tomorrow's game with Santana pitching against Zito - go off later in the day and move up the Cards and Padres, at least?!? Just one of them?
Sorry, just had to vent. The Twins will have the Cy Young award winner going, the batting champion going, possibly the MVP in Morneau going (Jeter probably will get it, and that is cool, too) and they rate the Padres/Cards game as being more important? The Twins have become a good national story this year, I think. Not a better story than the collapsing Cardinals (who I am also a fan of, by the way) and the Padres with little national name recognition? I dunno, I'm just frustrated. Such is life in "Fly-Over" country.
