I live in a pretty small town, small enough that the local liquer store actually ran out of Jack Daniels, my preferred brand of whiskey.

I could not believe it, but the delivery truck was coming "Any minute", whatever.

In any event the guy behind the counter talked me into buying a bottle of Knob Creek instead. First off the melted plastic/wax top is stupid and crumbs to pieces when you try to open it, but I gotta be honest, this was not bad whiskey if you were mixing it. As far as drinking it over ice I think I still prefer JD, but with ginger ale and lime juice it was pretty good.

Anyone else drink this on a regular basis?

OH
SURPRISE...... I have
Not my brand as I am a jameson guy or on some occasions Bush Mills,Tuillamore Dew, Kilbeggen and Wild Turk (when fishing or camping). But you are correct The knob over Coke or Ale is not a bad choice. I was going to post something smart ass in the "has anyone quit drinking cold Turkey" .... I don't know about "cold" but sometimes I quit drinking Wild Turkey.... when I am face first in a stream trying to get to second base with a trout. It's only a problem, if you run out!

Cheers

Actually just bought a bottle a few days ago. Not bad, agree its better as a mixer though. Don't know why, but it seemed to put through a loop a bit quicker than some others. Hate to think I'm losing my drinking touch

fellow Irishman, tullamore dew is my favorite. I remember liking bushmills, but it doesnt seem to have the same quality as it use to.
Curious as to what you think is the best Irish whiskey you've ever had?
Tullamore dew is my favorite, but i havent had too many others.
It seems like there is a ton of cheap ones out there, but i'm always looking for a great one to celebrate St. Patricks day.
Cheers everybody.
Rum & coke for me tonight.

My fav is a brand called -in a glass-.... I love that stuff. I go to the pub and the tender askes "In a glass?" and let me tell you it always goes down smooth. BUT---- Some people see the glass as half full, some see it as half empty........... I see a lazy F--KING TENDER WHO AIN'T GETTING A TIP! I wouldn't keep asking you to get me another if you just leave the bottle.

Mjolnir
Kilbeggen and Jameson, straight no ice, small glass leave the bottle.

Jack
If you have 3 Aces in a 5 card hand does it matter the suit? Thats how I feel about a good whiskey

Had a buddy that swore by Stolle's vodka. Went out one nite and had the bartender serve him house vodka all night. Next day he was going on about how the "Stolle's" was great and he felt so good because of the "premium" vodka he'd drank.

Funny thing is that really should be the case. Drinking house vodka should give you a hangover and premium vodka shouldn't.

As far as Jack challenge goes, if I ever meet up with you I say I can pass the challenge, and I'll bet the house limit on it.

Ever drink cheap whiskey Jack?

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
yep, ol' "bald knob" is pretty decent whiskey. I agree with Blazer that it's about the same as Maker's. In a mix drink (I like Manhattans), I probably couldn't tell them apart.

But real cheap whiskey I can tell. I've drank some rotgut whiskey that was so bad almost couldn't drink it!

Knob Hill is named after the distillery that Abe Lincoln's father worked at. I can imagine young Abe running around there, experiencing lots of things..

Woodford Reserve is head and sholders the best.

Makers and Knob are on the same level.

Jack has its place. :SIB

:iagree:

Damn this all brings a tear to my eye. :toast:

I'll add that Jim Beam actually works pretty darn well in Manhattans, and isn't a bad choice. It's not bad considering it's on the lower level of bourbons.
