and west virginia would run thru a schedule of Ohio St, Mich, Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn St and Purdue with a non conference game such as ND??? yeah ok

getting hit by eastern washington, marshall, ecu and uconn is a little different then playing in the Big 10 on a weekly basis.....wvu would be an above average team in that conference but never sniffing a national title game

Nail, meet head.

The problem a team like WVU would have in the B10 or SEC is that you have to have a lot of depth to play in a big time conference. If you don't have depth, you don't get the opportunity to rest guys all the time, and the bumps and bruises pile up. For instance, Michigan has 21 guys that play regularly on defense. How many legit athletes does WVU have on D? Sure, they can upset a UGA after a month off to prepare, but could they handle them after two tough games dead in the middle of a tough conference slate? I think not. This is precisely why the Michigan State's of the world are world beaters in September and sieves in November.

Probably going to find out......unless something odd happens it is gonna be Texas v Boise in the Fiesta.

And Texas and its fans wont care and maybe Boise makes it interesting. Bowl games always have these other factors to where I just dont one can make much out of the results. Like last year's Sugar Bowl. Big game for WVirginia. But did Georgia really care about their exciting bowl game with no title implications with a big trip dwon tthe street to Atlanta?

No matter who WVU beats...you will always take the stance that the other team was unfocused or terrible etc etc.

You took the same attitude with WVU basketball and you see it took a miracle shot and a non foul to beat them twice last year :SIB

Michigan has played ND....that is it.

Next two weeks..you get Indiana and Ball State.

:mj07: :mj07:

Oh yeah, UM played @ Penn State and vs Wisci also. They also played MSU, who whipped "mighty" Pitt in their building, not to mention Iowa. @Indiana (with their current QB) would be better test than any opponent WVU has faced thus far.

The 3rd best team in the country is playing the 5th best tonight..end of discussion.

You misspelled "best records" instead of best teams. And having a perfect record is much tougher to do in a grinder conference like the SEC than in the pitiful Big East. Exhibit A: Miami and VT as they have moved to the ACC.

Polls are more or less a linear ascending order of schools by the loss column and then by tradition/name recognition/popularity. Put WV in a major conference where they'd have to match up with multiple big time opponents---home and on the road---and see what happens.

I know WVU beatUGA last year, but in any one game anything could happen. Playing a full season is very different.

Ha!

This is what is great about college football...the endless debates.

Iowa played Syracuse tough in the dome :142smilie

Indiana lost to UCONN :142smilie

Rutgers barely beat Illini :scared

Come on...be reasonable.

Iowa didn't have Tate.

IU has a new athletic QB that would help them beat UConn is they played this week. He didn't play last time around. They are a much better team now.

this game isn't that big of a game to louisville. they aren't worried about west virginia. they will beat them soundly. they are probably looking ahead to rutgers on the road next week. west virginia is just like that pimple on your face that's irritating but will go away in the end. the media is making this game out to be bigger than it is.

like the other guy said at least louisville attempted to schedule decent ooc opponents. miami and k.state when scheduled were pretty good.

w. virginia isn't a bad program. it's actually not that bad a conference compared to others as well. i think louisville and rutgers are the cream of the crop, but we'll see. you can't fault w. virginia for beating their schedule because they did all they can. but now they have a test which they will surely fail, but w.virignia blinders can't see past it.

boise st. could beat any of these teams at home though. on the road they wouldn't beat any imo. and they certainly wouldn't beat texas. but they are fun to watch. just like w. virginia, but when they meet the big boys they will come up short.

Come on CWOOD...

Lets just agree to disagree. Tate? Isn't that the guy who I blame for losing me money versus OSU and Indiana...he is abysmal.

Its easy to say so and so is better now and would win today. Irrelevant.

Good Luck tonight.

i actually thought wilson was an objective poster before i saw his prediction that wvu would win by 3 touchdowns in this game.

side with wvu? understandable and respected.
feel they're going to cover the game? understandable and respected.

but any credibility went out the window with a 21+ point win.

.... because top 5 teams lose by 3 touchdowns in their own house all the time, right?

i guess i just dont understand these unabashed homers. whats so hard about being objective and realistic? just give credit where its due to every team and be equally critical as necessary. call it like it is. wvu has the better run game. louisville has the better balance. wvu has been more consistent this year. louisville has the better defense. what in the effing world would lead anyone to believe wvu could win by 21+? similarly, what could lead anyone to think louisville is going to come in and score 50 either?

I'll answer all three.

The sheep and square dancing. Wow, I've never heard that stuff before..very original!

GMan--

Louisville is not going to match the WVU speed.

OSU would beat L'ville by 3 TDs...so, can/will WVU

Good Luck with that Louisville future bet!
