Thoughts....

Bears won't get in. Not enough offense. I'm not overly impressed with them, great defense but offense makes many mistakes.

Eagles probably wish they still had TO, either way w/garcia at the helm those 2 homos don't get along.

Cowboys, could a team this talented be playing worse football right now?

New Orleans, no way :sadwave: :sadwave:

Giants and hawks, that's a good joke:mj07: :142smilie :mj07:

The 6.5 is tempting but I would have to know Baltimore or San Diego were the AFC champs before betting it. Otherwise I would hold off.

not enough offense?

would you fall out of your chair if i told you the bears scored as many point as the colts......and more than the cowboys....1st in the nfc and 2nd in the nfl?

does their defense and special teams score? yes
are those still points and considered offense? yes

the defense is not playing well and if they dont step up, they will force rex to play from behind when he is at his worst and makes mistakes

rex is a problem.....but the defense is more worrysome to me

as for the other teams....unless you get the saints or bears in the super bowl...the 6.5 will be much lower than the actual line

Da Bears finished the year 13 - 3. I won't count the last loss to Green Bay as the game was meaningless for da Bears. The other two losses were courtesy of New England and Miami. Both AFC teams.

-6.5 is looking good to me. Especially if Baltimore does make the superbowl and they are my favorite out of the AFC to make it. I just don't see Rex doing anything against the Ravens D. Unfortunately if it is da Bears vs Ravens it could go down in history as the worst super bowl game to watch as It would be over before half time.

yeah...no super bowl before has ever been a blowout or over at halftime....wait, they almost always are.

i like the ravens out of the afc as well, but dont think they score enough td's to totally blow anyone out.....23-10 is their blowout and technically that's still a game entering the 4th

I'm thinking OVER the total there is better than the side. Especially if it's NO that makes it, no way they get blown out, they can and will score on anybody.

Yeah, that 10 points NO put up against the Redskins in week 15 at home was impressive!

On the course!
Well.....take your worst AFC team, and match up with your best NFC team. I don't think it matters.

AFC is far and away the best, and the line will reflect that.

One of my friends wants to load up on the line now, and hope for a higher than 7 line at game time, giving him a prime number for a middle.

Doesn't seem too unreasonable.

BTW......Oly has:

AFC -5? points -125
NFC +5? points +100

werent the bears favored by 3 at the Jets recently......won and covered?

jets-chiefs are not better than the bears-saints-eagles-cowgirls (that said, they likely wont be inthe super bowl)

WHAT IF IT WAS SAN DIEGO VS NEW ORLEANS? I'LL TAKE THE 6.5 WITH BREES KNOWING CHARGERS SO WELL AND THE CHANCE TO SHOW OL MARTY UP!

Whoever ends up in the SB, both teams will be on a roll which makes both of them dangerous. I think the Bears will be there or maybe I'm just hoping they will be.

I just cant wager a penny on the Bears with Grossman.........if he cant play any better than that vs Green Bay........a meaningless game vs a shaky defense at home with absolutely no pressure.........how can anyone expect him to play well in a pressure packed playoff game.......

I was ready to play a future on the Bears but after his struggles..........and I think it was very important for him to have a decent game.........instead he played probably worse than any game this year.........

Is it to unrealistic to consider teams like the Saints, Chiefs and Eagles to win the superbowl? Don't get me wrong, I'm picking the Ravens but teams like the Eagles, Chiefs and Saints could pull it off. NE did it when they beat the Rams, Pats were the underdog nobody thought would do it. Another example would be the Steelers last year..another team people didn't think would win it all. Just something to think about I guess.

% say its a high probablility that a 1-2 seed will win it all...that means

sd-balt-chi-no

im pretty confident in totally eliminating

nyg-nyj-kc

leaving

sea-dal as extreme longshots to win 4 games

and then leaving

no-ne-ind-phil as potential longshots (with ne having the best shot of this group)

balt-chi has been my pick since august, (with no as a longshot) no need to change now!

This time, Rex will be ready
Grossman says preparation was lax against Packers

January 4, 2007
BY BRAD BIGGS Staff Reporter
Maybe the explanation that Rex Grossman wasn't fully into last week's preparation for the Bears' regular-season finale against Green Bay makes you feel better.
After all, the game meant nothing, and there has to be some way to explain his dreadful performance: 2-for-12 passing for 33 yards with three interceptions -- two returned for touchdowns -- and a lost fumble. It's reassuring, perhaps, to know that with more attentive preparation, the same won't be expected from Grossman in his second career playoff start.

But this is the kind of admission that can follow a player throughout his career, and it's not what anyone wanted to hear from Grossman, whose first full season was defined as much by his wild inconsistency as it was the team's 13-3 record.

''In this league, especially at this position, you have to bring it every single week, no matter what,'' Grossman said Wednesday. ''And the situation was I felt like I was going to play about a half, and it was the last game, it was New Year's Eve -- there were so many other factors that brought my focus away from what is actually important, and that's something that I am never going to do again.

''There is too much I am responsible for to not give it 100 percent during the week and just the full attention. It's another lesson.''

It was a disarmingly honest admission from Grossman but frightening at the same time. Lack of preparation was one of the failures that led the Bears to run off the last quarterback they drafted in the first round, Cade McNown. And while the game had as much meaning as an exhibition to both teams -- the Bears' top goal was to come out of it healthy -- it's tough to get past an athlete saying he wasn't ready.

''The next couple of days, I may think about it more,'' sman said. ''But there's going to come a time where I am going to completely forget about it and move on. It was a meaningless game. I won't dwell on it too much. I definitely want to learn from it.''

Coach Lovie Smith said Tuesday that his problem with the 26-7 loss -- to a team that the Bears shut out 26-0 to begin the season -- was execution, not effort. But offensive coordinator Ron Turner talked Wednesday about a lack of preparation.

''[Grossman's] still a young player,'' Turner said, ''and he's still learning the intensity and the preparation and everything that goes along with it and that you have to have that every week. But he wasn't the only one who didn't play well.''

If there is concern that Grossman's poor work habits will carry over into preparation for the divisional playoff game next weekend at Soldier Field, no one was letting on.

''He came out today and threw the ball like he never threw a pick,'' wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad said. ''I've got the same confidence I had in him when he had some bad games earlier. He went on a stretch where he was playing really well, had another bad game. If you follow the trends, he should be able to come back with some good games.''

But being ill-prepared is one of the real no-nos in sports, one that is magnified when a quarterback pleads guilty. As he did after the game and again Tuesday, Smith spread the blame all around.

''As a team we weren't focused,'' he said. ''We were beaten soundly, so we weren't focused enough. It's hard sometimes when you play a game like that to be at your peak, at the top of your game. We all know what's at stake, and we'll see our best game the next time we play.''

If Smith is correct, maybe Grossman deserves credit for being the one to stand up and admit the Bears were not ready. At least you have an explanation, as hard as it is to swallow. Now, the focus moves forward.

''You're going to see a focused and intense quarterback,'' Grossman said.

What's Grossman going to say? "I'm the turd everyone thought I was."?

He's nowhere near good enough to pick and choose when he turns it on and off.
