I like my HUSKERS record versus the great sec. in bowls.

12-3 all-time v SEC 12-4 now that we gave Auburn a W

5-1 in games where winner was crowned national champion

won 11 straight before meltdown vs eli & co.

1964 Orange Auburn W 13-7

1966 Orange Alabama L 28-39

1967 Sugar Alabama L 7-34

1969 Sun Georgia W 45-6

1971 Orange Louisiana St. W 17-12

1972 Orange Alabama W 38-6

1974 Sugar Florida W 13-10

1980 Sun Mississippi St. W 31-17

1983 Orange Louisiana St. W 21-20

1985 Sugar Louisiana St. W 28-10

1987 Sugar Louisiana St. W 30-15

1996 Fiesta Florida W 62-24

1998 Orange Tennessee W 42-17

2000 Fiesta Tennessee W 31-21

2002 Independence Ole Miss L 24-27

2006 Cotton Auburn L14-17

Of course the Huskers are down, but losing to the only team that beat Florida and holding them to less then 180 yds offense and giving them 2 gift TD's makes me optomistic. Even with the loss the HUSKERS still rule the sec. hahahahaha Choke on that sec fans.

Anyway, Congrats to the Florida Gators for a great win.

Uh, last time I checked teams don't really get to choose what conference they play in.

Actually, they can...And do.
U. Miami, BC and Va. Tech for example applied and were accepted into ACC to strengthen their basketball programs.

But Ole Miss. would NEVER leave this conference. Why would they leave a premier conference like the SEC and give up their share of all that bowl money?
Not to mention the prestige of being an SEC member.

Well aside from thet when is the last time that happened. I guess my point is one team can't just up and move to the SEC

If a conference decides to expand, it will accept applications for admission. That is how Penn State became a BIG TEN member.

Also, if a school decides to leave a conference for anothe conferencer that accepted them, this creates an opening and it can be filled. But no SEC school would EVER want to leave such a prestigious conference.
Perhaps one day the SEC will expand as the PAC 8 did to allow Arizona and Arizona State to join some years back. But current members have to approve the move.

Ya, I know all of that he's acting like Olemiss has big balls because they choose to be in the SEC. You know what never mind all hail the big balled SEC teams for being in that conference

I agree the B-10 has become the old Pac 10. Your stat doesn't say, before last night Ohio St lost to S Car in 2001 & 2002. They have not played any Sec teams since then.

I hate to get in the way of all of the Scott4SEC fans in this thread (and if most of you people think you sound anything other than EXACTLY like him minus the requsite 114 smilies per post, you're fooling yourselves). But Ohio State just finished a home-and-home with Texas, and starts one with USC next year. It's not like they are ducking good teams.

Whatever Dvlsu...your still an ass!
:mj07:

First and foremost, Hats off to FL for executing a flawless game plan...Boys, this one hurts bad I guess I can compare the feeling I have to first finding out that your dog died...I feel terrible for the players to work that hard and go that far and to have it end that way...

I do think if this game was played a week after Mich it would have been a much different game...And it was obvious the layoff played a factor...But no excuses OSU got embarrassed...Now do I think FL is a 27 points better...Of course not but it was Florida's night and I knew we were in trouble when their FG Kicker drills a 43 yarder when he's under 30% on the season...

I solely blame this loss on the coaches...The game plan was awful on both sides of the ball!...

Defensively-
Why in the hell were we playing a Zone Coverage with three linebackers against a spread offense...It just doesn't make any sense at all...At least blitz the linebackers; don't put them back in coverage...We put no pressure on Leak at all which was the key to the game...The guy didn't throw a pass over 10-yards...And the roll-out pass just killed us...We did make some adjustments at the half only giving up 7 points...the first two series after the half we hold FL to three and out and the offense didn't do a damn thing to help out of the defense...

Offensively-
Wow, where do I start...We should have ran the ball more and Troy reminded me of when he was a sophomore...Starring down the WR and locking on one guy...He held the ball entirely too long and instead of pump faking...tuck the ball and run up field...Now for the 4 and 1 Call...I was screaming "NO" when the ran on the field...Its just not what Tressel does and how do the refs at least measure that...It was a huge play in the game and no measurement?...I mean come on...And the fact Troy didn't have Ginn who got hurt on the first play of the game during the celebration really hurt as well... What really broke OSU was not getting the 4 and 1 which for the most part lead to a 10 point swing...

What more can I say besides we got out coached...Meyer played the underdog role perfectly...And the Gators executed and killed us in the trenches on both sides of the ball...Florida was on last night and it was just there night...There was no team in the country that could have beat them last night...

Props to the SEC

Props to the SEC

But even more props to the Gators. They won the title, not the SEC. I was clearly impressed by the SEC showings in the Bowl games, especially that of AL and AU, who really had nothing of relevance to play for. FL and LSU had extremely impressive performances and deserve their rankings.

As for the comments about SEC superiority I still don't understand or fathom it. I have always felt that top to bottom I feel the SEC to be the best all around football conference, but certainly not superior. 6-3 in the bowl games is quite an accomplishment and the conference and the winning teams should be proud.

Also for the idiotic statements that USC would not do well in the SEC, how about providing some documentation as to why: maybe some OOC for USC, or head to head USC vs the SEC etc.

I think USC has fared well. And the funny thing is that SC lost in conference this year, not to anyone else, including an SEC team.

For once look past the passion and zealousness and give another non SEC team some credit. As a gambler, it makes a lot of sense.

And what about Boise St, did they not go undefeated and beat everyone on their schedule. Instead of depreciating their efforts, how about celebrating them. It won't hurt the SEC.

Once again, congrats to the SEC on a great year.

Thanks thom but atleast i am not sports stupid as you are!!

Playing one SEC team here and there doesnt suggest how any team could fair in the SEC!! If you can't look at the SEC and digest the info then No need in trying to explain!!

The problem is Tressel obviously didnt think the OSU corners can hang with Floridas WR deep...so he forced them to throw underneath and hope for leak to force a throw...also to have a higher percentage to make a mistake with a fumble and whatnot due to a longer drive and more plays.

The problem on offense was not not running the ball, it was that the OLine wasn't as good as Florida's DLine...and Florida was getting pressure frequently with only 4 down lineman.

Coaching can only go so far, and Ohio State got exposed...if you really think about it, when is the last time OSU played a team like Florida? It wasn't last years Fiesta bowl against Notre Dame, ill tell you that...

This team going into the season...everyone was talking about how the defense was so young and it was going to be tough to replace that many guys on defense...but there has been NO TEAM other than Michigans offense to really test them...and when they played Mich they god exposed. The writing was on the wall yesterday long before the game.
