NETeller Founders Arrested in US
Update Number 2:

The two founders of online gambling payment solutions NETeller were arrested in Los Angeles and New York, respectively, today, according to reports surfacing Monday afternoon Gambling911.com has learned.

John LeFevre and Steve Lawrence, both of Canada, were taken into custody early Monday morning while in the United States. Charges have not been filed yet.

Neither men have been involved with NETeller for a few years now, though it is not known if they are still receiving an "income" from the company.

NETeller is a publicly traded company based out of Isle of Man and is the largest online gambling money processor.

The detention of both men indicates a prolonged investigation dating back several years. It is not known why either were traveling in the United States at the same time transferring through two different airports. Nor is it known at this time if the two men are being detained for anything having to do with their involvement in NETeller.

LeFevre, a former hippie, started the hugely successful company with Steve Lawrence in 1999 but retired in 2002 in Costa Rica.

It has since been learned that Steve Lawrence served as Chairman of Neteller until October 13, 2005.

"He (Lawrence) resigned and both men have substantial holdings of stock as well," another source disclosed to Gambling911.com Monday evening.

It is not known how this latest event will impact NETeller or its stock once it begins trading again on Tuesday. Most of NETeller's executive team have shied away from traveling within the United States.

Welcome to Nazi Germany.

This country is so strayed so far from what the founding fathers invisioned that they would not recognize it.

On the course!
Does this remind anyone else of Prohibition?

This is something the US has always maintained we could not do. We have always been breaking the law by doing it.

Though, yes......it is a fine example of the few telling the many what they can have.

Netteller problems...

Netteller problems...

Tried to log on yesterday to send money to the greek, as pinnacle would not transfer my funds to greek, as I had initially asked for fed ex (which the check had not been issued, and I was told situation is "irreversable") then found netteller account closed.....

Netteller has not responded to two emails sent yesterday morning, and the wait for their "live chat" is like waiting for an iceberg in the north atlantic to melt....I will try calling them this morning.

God bless America, circa 1970...fast cars, cheap gas, good ole Labatts Blue, no cell phones, and only cureable VD to worry about...

my account is still open, i just logged in

however, to be safe, i would move my money to CRIS, WSEX, thegreek, betjm, VIP, Gameday, Nine, BetDSI, 5DIMES and Matchbook. The only reason I would do that is so I wouldn't have any delays should Neteller close down US customers.

Do you suspect Neteller will close its doors....I have a pending transfer going there in the next few days & sure want my money....

Do you think I should request a payout via FedEx or ECheck instead??

:scared

you will get your money from Neteller should they shut US customers out, it just might be a little delayed, like Pinnacle.

They said months ago that they would abide by the new laws and close to US customers when the time came.

Who knows why these guys were detained but it might help them make their decision to close to the US a little quicker.

I guess we'll find out more soon.

f--k, without neteller (if they close out us customers), what do you and others think is the best way to get $ to/from stars especially, and some of the books, it's getting tougher and tougher, hopefully we dont have to revert back to the western union days...imo, it's much easier dealing w/pinny closing than neteller, b/c at least theres other books out there, neteller has been a g-dsend for a while now, so easy to use and efficient, hopefully some more options arise, what a damn pain in the a$$ this stupid government is

because they don't have any plans of closing their US based business and you can get a check FedEx from them next day.

I'm just saying what I would and am going to do.

Maybe Neteller stays in the US but they said long ago, after the new law was passed, that they would abide by the new law.

I'm just guessing but having the 2 founders of Neteller retained by the feds yesterday certainly doesn't look good even though they are no longer with Neteller.

Several books are now issuing Visa debit cards which allow you to access your funds immediately and deposits are made to the issuing bank (offshore) so there is no trail of a sportsbook even being involved in the transaction. I know that BetCRIS offers this option and BetJamaica did at one time but they were unsatisfied with the bank's customer service so they pulled their business. I believe they are in the process of finding another bank to handle this.

I had sent a EFT to neteller last week. Today is five business days. It just hit my neteller account a few minutes ago. As soon as I saw it in there I sent it over to my new account at gameday.

Everything seemed to work normally.

netteller update phone call

netteller update phone call

I spoke to a very nice young lady in Alberta, my issue was easily resolved, account inactivity....I had not needed their service for almost 6 months...(winning a dab, losing a dab...no need for withdrawal.)
After 180 days an account is electronically deemed inactive.

She apologized for the lack of e-mail communication, saying understandably, we are very busy.

In speaking to her (she was single, a cross country skier and a babe) I quizzed her about the situation...keep in mind she is a lower level employee.

She told me that mangement is looking at all the issues, the senior managers were talking to their legal department, and as of now it is business as usual.
She also said you can read all the articles, but keep in mind they are from different sources and editors. She seemed very positive that Neteller would do everything possible to service American citizens....
