DISCLAIMER: IT WAS FOR PLAY MONEY on party poker.

Well, I played my first sit n go tournament and finished #27 out of 4000.

I WON a whopping 50 Play Chips,:00hour :00hour :00hour :SIB .. Buy-in was 6 chips:scared :scared

Granted, Play chips is a lot different than real money, but never thought I would do as well as I did.

Had trip kings, and went all in and lost to full house kings/8's

if you had 3 kings how did you get beat with a full house with kings??
two kings must have been on the board with an 8 and the other guy must have had pocket 8's.

nice job, lawtchan. you should play pokerstars freerolls. at least you'll have a slight chance of making some real money, whereas at party, there is no chance.

Great job Lawrence!!!

Don't let agent get to you, poker is his substitute for not having kids - he needs something to take all of his money every now and then :(:(

:142smilie :142smilie

Good luck when you decide you want to start playing for real money because I'm sure you'll do well:)

Poker Question:

I know there are many variables that go into this answer, but looking for some generalities.

Let's say I have 9d, 9s. Flop comes Qc, 10c, 6d.

My question is, How do I protect a pair of 9's to get out the 'flush' holders when I'm third pair.

Q or 10 beats me, but 9's are a reasonable hand, so do I bet fairly large amount or wait on flop.

Like I said, I know there are lots of variable, chip size, amount of player, etc. just would like some general information.

I lost to some suck out flushes today holding a middle pair, and was thinking maybe I should have protected better.

Thanks.

WTF is the point of play money poker? PLEASE tell me?

I like you man, always have. I hate to burst your bubble but you have won nothing. Play for $$$$ then you can say you won something.

Play chips, LMAO!!!

I always wondered who those people were. You can play as low as .01 and .02 cent on Stars, even that is better than play chips for fuk sake.

gl in your quest.

I agree bro, play chips are absolutely pointless and people play any 2 cards, why even post about it :shrug it is absolutely worthless, may as well least play for 2 bucks: was good meeting you & your lady in Vegas wish we coulda played some poker together but next time, It's too bad I ended up playing too much and having too many:drinky: :drinky: to make a profit, but I liked both the aladdin and venetian poker-wise, hey you got to see your team win the title that is awesome.

Maybe he - GASP! - likes playing cards but recognizes he doesn't have the experience to make it worth it to risk actual money? Why do you play golf? You don't get paid for it, do? Hell, I bet it even COSTS you money.

Not really a good arguement... You play golf for probably 1 of 2 reasons.... because you enjoy it and/or you want to improve. Golf is a 1 person game, other people's decisions should not impact you. If he is asking questions about how to play hands, he must be playing because he wants to improve.

What they are saying is playing with play money is a totally game than playing for cash. If he eventually wants to play for money, playing with play money is not the way to go. You are better off playing cheap tourney's, you will still have people playing almost any 2 cards, but the % of people that are playing 'for real' is greatly increased.

It's a fine argument. I'm saying he might have been bored, doesn't want to risk losing money, and maybe he actually just has fun playing cards. Most people might not enjoy it when it's not for money, but maybe he does.

Seems like the guy is new to poker and doesn't feel comfortable playing for money. And more importantly he seems to be enjoying what he is doing. I realize this is a concept that a lot of people on this board cant grasp (ex. agent) but he is having his fun and sharing without belittling anyone either. A novel concept huh:shrug: Continued success law!!!!
