it was a Sharp AQUOS 20 in LCD

Dude i just bought two 20 inch lcd. One was a sanyo for a total price of 370 and the other one which i like better was a sylvania for 300. 700 is a bit stiff. I wouldn't be happy but at least the guy wants to help. You dont have to rob him.

Personally,I would tell him what you paid for it and have him give you the money and say he came out better because they are really 700. Then I would go online and buy a 32" hd for 399. You can find good 32" hd 720p/1080i right now for 399 or even 379. Nothing like replacing a 20" with a 32. I think there was a 27" for 299 last week. Look on slickdeals.net and you'll find a great deal. And yes, most of them are monitors so you can hook your computer up to it.

the saga continues....

I get a call from him today.

"How do you want to handle ths monitor situation?"

I asked "What situation?"

Do you want me to give you the money or do you want to go to Best Buy and picke somethingout?

I told him I don't want to 'pick something out', I want the monitor replaced.

We are suppose to go when I get home from work..

This might not be ending well... His tone sounds like "What do you want to do about YOUR monitor!!"

dude be thankful you have a friend that wants to replace it not all guys would. I think your being a little uptight about this. Stop being snipping with him and take what you can get before you don't get anything. Is this all worth losing a friendship? Im sure he feels bad about this if he is willing to help. Kids are kids and im sure he didn't tell his kid to throw the car. If i was in this situation and the guy felt bad and wanted to help i would know the guy was a good guy. Your gonna make him hate you.

You are thinking way to much into this. He probably is pissed. (At his kid ..not you) I know I would have an attitude if I knew I was going to have to shell out $700 for something the rugrat did.

I would check on-line and find the cheapest price and get one that way. He was man enough to offer to pay for the replacement. The least you could do is to help him find the cheapest place to get it.

Agreed,
Why dont you help him, since he is helping(obligated:SIB ) you...
Check a few sites, and forward him what you found. It will become quite clear to him what he needs to do after you have shown him where to buy THAT MODEL monitor.

Rather easy..

Replace exactly what your rugrat broke..

if the situation was reversed then you would be responsible for EXACTLY what your rugrat broke.

Maybe my typing is coming off wrong. I have no problem with Vernon and we are pretty good friends.

We are going to go after work to get monitor. I never even got an "I'm sorry" or anything ,just a "Dude, I owe you a new monitor"

I would have replaced immediately, and I'm not looking to make anything off him. If he can find one around $300.00 then fine.

Hell, he never even corrected hid kid, he actually said his older boy probably 'dared' him to throw it. I'm staying out of the punishment or whatever he calls it, I'm just hoping for him to make amends.

I will never understand why parents and grandparents wait til a child is 13 or 14 years old to teach right from wrong and reponsibility from irresponsiible behavior.

...and then ask the question:

"where did I go wrong?" :scared

I remember to this very second the first whipping I got..It has stayed with me for life.

That whipping hurt like hell..

...but I never left the frontyard without approval EVER AGAIN..:nono:

Law i hope everything works out for you. I once had an 800 dollar digital camera i bought for 250. was around right when they first started coming out. I lent it to a very good friend and told him to let his wife figure it out and we will share it if she teaches me. When i wanted it back he said i gave it to him and he shouldn't have to give it back. This went back and forth and i know his wife was embarassed cause she knew i was right but this so called buddy wouldn't give it back. Things got tense but i finally got it back. Our relationship has never been the same. I will never forgive him for pulling that crap on me. Kinda glad i got away from him tho cause he was one of those phone whores who would call three times a day. Good luck bro. camera has been in the closet ever since. Maybe i should have given it to him. Oh and by the way the one 20 inch lcd i have is a sylvania and i really like it and it was only 299 pluse tax.
