never fails, does it? ok, in a 6-handed game, i can see raising there with A9, but calling another $8K? 1/3 of his chip stack? wtf does he think you would push all-in with that he'd be favored against? nothing much you can do against stupidity, jack, except tell yourself that, in the long run, you're gonna beat 'em.

The only thing I can guess is that he thought you were trying to steal from him here and chip up. Still a pretty terrible play on his part, but i've done this alot and walked into a similiar situation. Just bad luck the 87% fav or whatever didn't hold up.
