Years ago I took a couple of years out of what had up till then been a very productive life. I play pool pretty good and had always wondered how I would do on the road. I got the chance and for two years that was the way I made my living. I did pretty good but that's not what this story is all about. It's about a man that owned a night club in a small town and the moral of the story. This man saw me play and wanted me to come to his town and play the locals. All expenses paid and half of what I won. When I got there he had a blackjack table and a crap table going wide open and this wasn't Vegas. Knowing a little bit about gambling (even back then) I wandered over to the blackjack table and watched. The dealer was terrible. He was coming off the bottom of the deck (wasn't good enough to come out of the middle) and was so obvious it was ridiculous. Yet the people sat there and lost their money without ever saying a word. At the crap table the dice were going in and out of the game like a yo-yo. I went over to my friend and said "Jack" that's not his name and I apologize to Jack but that's a good name for this story, how in the hell do you get away with this?". He kinda smiled and said, "Joe, it's the only game in town".
How does that fit this forum? I've said this before and I won't bother saying it again. My show plays are hitting at least 60% (truth is closer to 65%) or I don't post them. I play them every day. Now why would you want to fade a play that starts out at least 60% against you when there are other games. Sure, you are going to win sometimes but in the long run it will catch up with you. Why not flip a coin. You've got a 50-50 chance that way. It's not the only game in town.
