3 of the 5 he faced the national........ the other 2 : @stl, 3er, 3ip........... atl, 4er, 7ip......... I think you have to look past the starters to find the cash in these games 70 % of the time & this is one of them. Francis had 2 starts against the phils and the rockies split, his #'s were not close to good..... if we look at the body of work, both these teams are 10 gms over 500, 2-1 L3 & allowed 3 runs L3 with todays starters....... Colo has to get the edge against left handers, has to get the edge in hitting & pen over the L10...... I could see putting a # on this gm and betting it like they are if the phillies were playing the nationals........ both teams are 4 or 5 gms over in day BB........ Hamels 4-1 4.26.................Francis 8-0 2.48.......... Maybe Francis likes the sun ?

Hamels: seems to like night starts vs day starts , more than a full run higher

HTML:
Day/Night
Splits W L ERA G GS S IP H R ER HR TBB IBB K
Day 4 1 4.26 8 8 0 44.1 50 22 21 6 12 1 41
Night 11 4 3.11 20 20 0 139.0 113 50 48 19 31 3 136

I was just checking that out myself.
bryanz's post was the first thing that made me even consider day/night splits.
Francis withe the much better daytime numbers.
Haven't pulled the trigger, yet, on Philly and now I don't know if I should.

I think you can throw out the St. Louis start, it was his 1st start back after being on the DL for a month. At least that's the excuse I am giving for the poor start.

I like the Phils here in this spot. I have been on the rockies, the past couple, but going against them here.

thats the thing about capping, we can throw out what ever we want, you have to throw stuff out. do you also throw out atl ? how much wait do you give those 3 against wash ?
